Sweeps Advantage Freezes

The past several days I've had trouble entering sweeps here. I use Chrome, always have. I get to the site through a bookmark, click on Sweepstakes then new sweepstakes. I can generally get that far and click on a date. Past that, the site freezes and it slows down any other tabs I have open as well. I've tried using Edge instead, no luck. I've cleared my cache as well as restarted my computer.

Any other ideas?

I have the same problem with Firefox. It freezes & I have to use Task Master to end task. It does this repeatedly. The same issue happens with IE, 'cept there I get a pop-up notice from IE that SA isn't responding. I have to close out and then log-in again to solve the problem. Once again, it does this repeatedly. I've tried clearing cache, cookies history etc. and nothing helped.

It got to the point that it was almost impossible to enter sweeps. The same lock-up would happen while I was looking at new sweeps. I have 3 other sites where I had a few sweeps and I finally moved all of my sweeps to them as I have zero problems with these sites.

SA is like an old comfortable shoe & I hated to move everything to other sites after all these years.

Thanks for the link. Maybe I'll see what Ken has to say.

I have been having the same problem. I was being to think maybe I needed to get a new computer. Ever since it was made that the page count is 20 and we can't lower it I have had a bit of a problem with getting the pages to load because my computer is old but this locking up stuff is entirely new. It happens in SP whether I use IE, Firefox or Google Chrome. I haven't gotten thru all my sweeps in about a week now because my computer keeps locking up. Let me know if anyone hears an answer to a problem.

curmudgeon - I bookmarked all my entry links in FF folders & entered thru them & had the same issues of freezing/locking up having to use Task Master to end task, so I don't think it's {all} from SA

colleenjudge - have you tried NOT using SweepsPop & R clicking [to open in a new tab] the links instead?

Or, have you tried bookmarking entry links in [FF/CHROME] folders - that way you can control how many links you open at a time

I had some bookmarked, and got a notice from Robo that I'd exceeded my free passcard/login limit of 10, so I deleted them. Robo shouldn't consider bookmarks as passcards, but I didn't want to argue with them. In all the years that I've used SA, I've never used sweeps pop. I manually open 5 or 6 and when I have one left I open 5 or 6 more, so I don't think it's a volume thing. I'm using 2 other sites without any problems - no freeze-ups, lock-ups or slow downs. I also use a 3rd and 4th site 'cause they post some new sweeps before anyone else does. I have zero problems with those sites also, though I only have a few sweeps with them.

curmudgeon - I meant bookmarking links in folders in Firefox that you can then open in tabs & use the drop downs/type in your info OR, FF also has the option of remembering your passwords

I am also having this problem in Chrome. I had Adblock disabled for this site and the new sweepstakes page would never finish loading. If I enable it it has the same issue. Then I tried blocking ads coming from facebook.com and the page loads, but still very slowly. This is the only site I'm having any issue with.

if you have sweepstakes plus you should be logging into www. sweepstakesplus .com where there are no banner ads.

I cannot get anywhere today or the past two day with new sweepstakes. Can sweepsadvantage clear the problem?

Please disable all your plugins and extensions in chrome except Roboform.

I disabled all my extensions and while the page opens, there is definitely something wrong with it. Chrome task manager shows that the page is using 20-30% of my cpu and it is causing my fan to run at full speed. The memory usage is steadily rising, as is the number of errors shown in the developer console. After being on the page for about 5 minutes there are 1000 errors. Here are two that show up repeatedly:

Code:
Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token M in JSON at position 0
GET [url]http://sync.search.spotxchange.com/partner?adv_id=BUYER_ID&uid=BUYER_USER_ID&img=1[/url] 400 (Bad Request)

Anyways, for now I just signed up for a month of plus. I really don't like blocking ads on sites I want to support.

That code is from a "video ad". Your system is not handling the playing of video advertisements. I would check to see if you have adobe flash installed in the windows control panel or
some other video player and uninstall it. No one is using flash player any longer because it has been deemed insecure and has memory crashing issues.

Flash player are now built into web browsers so their is no need to have it installed stand alone.

I block ADOBE except for the ADOBE Reader because I use that for looking at Rules
