Stupid bed people

Back in July I entered a contest to win a bed and about a week after, I got a call from the company regarding my entry. The call went something along the lines of "We are calling regarding your entry to win a memory foam bed, and while waiting to hear if you won, we would like to give you a memory foam pillow absolutely free in exchange for an at-home demo of our bed. " However, before I could say anything, the woman said "So what we are going to do is have someone in your area come out and set up a demo, you can try out the bed and then you can keep the pillow. " the call went on one sided for at least 5 minutes, and she only stopped to ask me what time I wanted someone to come out. SO pushy. I gave my boyfriend the phone and I kept telling him just to hang up, but he decided he try to end the call politely. Even he had to hang up, this woman would not take no. About a week later, I got another call. Slightly different number but the same area code. Same kind of call, different person. I hang up before they can even mention the pillow. Then I got a few calls from Bassmaster, but after hanging up on the first one and not answering the other TWO, they never called me again. I searched and found Bassmaster has been bugging a lot of people and expected the worst, but I did not know it was the bed people who were my real problem. September yields no bothersome calls, and I assume the worst has past. I start being more cautious about which entry forms get my cell phone number. October comes around, and guess who calls me at 6 in the morning? THE BED PEOPLE. Seriously, my mom used to be the reason why I kept my phone on silent. She never stopped calling me at all hours of the day. She called me when she was bored, when she took a cute picture on her phone, when she was shopping and just wanted to say Hi. It took a really long time, a lot of convincing and repairing our relationship to get my mom to stop calling dozens of times a day at all hours. Now I feel like the bed people are my new mom. I didn't hear from them for a few days, because I stopped charging my phone.

I decided to completely silent my phone at all times, and because of this I ended up with several voice mails several times a day. They were from a local area code, I thought they might be important. But the voice-mails were always blank, and I couldn't call the number back. This is when I assumed this must be one of those scam calls. So I forgot about it. They would show up at all hours of the day, 3am, 6am, 1pm, 5pm, 8pm. There is now way a company would make calls like this. I FORGOT ABOUT THE BED PEOPLE. And they got lucky, because one of the times they called, I just happened to be using my phone. My boyfriend, who is very amused by them, decided to answer it. I told him 'no no no no no! we dont even want to tell them this is an active number'

"hello?"
"Hi is this ___?"
I told him.. tell them yes, you are me... just say yes.
"yes. "
We are calling regarding your entry to win a memory foam bed and while we wait to see if you won, we want to give you a memory foam pillow.
:(:(:(:(:(
So I told him, you know what, just ask them what the catch is. And he does and she starts laughing, and I swear it is because she KNOWS what the catch is because she spends ALL day doing these calls.
"There is no catch! what we are going to do is have someone in your area come out and set up a demo and you can try the bed and keep the pillow!"

She continues on like this and while she is pushing her speech, my boyfriend and I are bickering about whether or not to hang the phone up. We almost start arguing over it and SHE IS STILL TALKING ABOUT THIS FREE PILLOW. I hung up the phone and oh my gosh, I really cannot take this anymore. I had to put them in my phone as STUPID BED PEOPLE so we know not to answer the calls.

I cant. I am using a windows phone, and it does not have the options like androids do. I remember being able to do this on android to automatically put calls through to voice mail or just flat out reject them but I am not sure if it has these capabilities. I don't want to download an app that effects calls because I would hate to miss something from a malfunction.

Oh, sorry there is no easy way. Don't you wish you could just tell her/them to stop calling, and they would.

Yep. I had this happen months ago. As soon as they offered the "free pillow" I said NO I don't want a pillow and am not in the market for a bed. She persisted and I declined. I had to be very firm and say no right away, as to not let her think she had a "hook". Somewhere in the conversation I insisted on being removed from their call list. I haven't had another call yet.

As a "sweeping" house we receive calls like this often and are ready to deal with them. I usually answer because we have received notification for some nice wins by phone before. Delineating between legit wins and sales calls becomes a talent. Unfortunately sometimes they'll come up with a new line and will sneak through. Forums like this are an invaluable source for "heads up" info.

So sorry you've been forced not to answer your phone. Since you don't use it much because of this, maybe change your number?
