Strange sweepstakes results, what do you think?

Okay, so I am entered into this sweepstakes (you have to scroll down to get to the Gleam entry box)
Kaukauna Holiday Last day to enter is 12-31-16

Here is part of the rules I copied,
On or about January 3, 2017, Five Hundred (500) potential Second Prize, Twenty (20) potential First Prize, and two (2) potential Grand Prize winners will be selected as a potential winner in a random drawing from all eligible entries into the Sweepstakes made during that Entry Period.

Each Grand Prize is a $500 Visa eGift Card.

Each First Prize is a $200 Visa eGift Card.

Each Second Prize is a Cheeseboard with an ARV of $9.65

Today, myself and another sweeps friend got an email saying we had won a Cheeseboard. I know it says "on or about January 3,2017" but how do you draw winners before the expiration date on the sweeps?

Not that big of a deal but I am just curious, anyone else seen anything like this before? Thanks for your input!
 
I won one of those cheeseboards also.

They wanted me to complete an affidavit in order to claim the $9.65 cheseboard. I emailed them and told them where to put their affidavit.
 
travelfiend - I can't check this because it wasn't listed at SA so I didn't C&P the rules, but are you sure the rules didn't mention "random" daily/weekly or even monthly prizes?

Hi Amy,
First, this is no big deal, I was just curious. You can see the rules still if you click on the Kaukauna link, scroll down to the Gleam box and then click on Terms and Conditions at the bottom. I don't see anything about random daily/weekly/monthly. I have to wonder also if that entry counter is accurate, I see 5860 for total entries which strikes me as incredibly low.
