Stella Chalice win denied

I received this letter last night so I won but they're not going to be able to deliver on the win. Here's a copy of what they sent:




Dear Participant,

We wanted to thank you for participating in the STELLA ARTOIS® FILL YOUR CHALICE WITH CHEER SWEEPSTAKES.

Unfortunately, the maximum number of winning entries for the Stella Chalices of two thousand (2,000) winners was reached prior to your winning notification and verification. Due to the overwhelming popularity of this promotion, the system was not able to properly display the message stating that the campaign had reached its limit before your entry was received.

We sincerely apologize for the error and have taken active measures to prevent future miscommunication. Regrettably, per Section 5 of the official rules, we are not able award your prize.

I sure was looking forward to the win but that's just the way it goes. I sure hope this doesn't happen to anyone else.
 
That seems very unfair and disappointing for you. I hope they at least give you a consolation prize.
 
That does not seem fair to me! I am just a newbie at this but it does not seem that you should be offered nothing...not even a consolation win.

Sponsors have verbiage in the rules for CYA when things like this happen - sounds like instead of random times spread over the life of the promo, whomever created this promo either set it up for 1 win per x# of plays assuming a very small player pool, or, they didn't key in the algorithm & the 1st 2000 won
