I got an email telling me I'd won first prize which was grilling apron with an ARV of $40. They were requesting me to fill out an affidavit, a copy of my drivers license, and my SSN to claim. Does this seem right? I've never been asked to jump through so many hoops for a $40 prize. They usually just send it after accepting. There's no tax implications. Weird. I've emailed asking if this is correct, if it is I'm going to pass. This ended back on 10/31.

It may be because it's a brewing company and you are supposed to be 21 to enter. Hence all the legalities and certification.
 
I emailed them and they replied. They had sent me the wrong affidavit. I was hoping they had informed me of the wrong prize. haha.. Grand prize was a BigGreen Egg Smoker. So now I just have to fill out a basic form and return.
 
Always call when you have questions. I won $20 from Newport but they requested the tax forms and said my win was over 600. Obviously I was confused as can be but after calling I found out it's one company that does giveaways for several tobacco companies. I've won through out the year which put me over the 600 threshold
