Secret Shopper ... need confirmation or feedback if this is legit

hi everyone

ok, i know SS is real ive done a few through contracting comanies (office team) and I work in a business that has them sent to us to evaluate.
through one of the legit things i joined on this site i vaguely remember a week or so ago saying yes i want info on their secret shopper program

i get a letter and check today sent through usps express mail. costs more than $9 to ship to me? that kinda goes in the maybe legit column

but it was a check for 1800something to be deposited in my bank, me to keep 200 but then send 1600 via western union to someone in pennsylvania. hmm not nigeria or strange country also looks legit.

however the contact email that i contact after i do this is a gmail account?

so im confused. this check looks completely real. how do i confirm whether this is real or not?

any feedback would be great. thanks

SCAM you will end up $1600 short once the check is found to be a fake. This has been around for awhile. When I worked in a retail store that did a lot of western Union in 2002 we would get notices from Western Union about this 2 or 3 times a week.

It sure sounds like a scam to me. Especially with a gmail account. You bank may be able to find out if there is any money in the account that it is supposidly drawn from. You could also deposit it and wait for it to clear before doing anything. Me, I would put it in the trash.
 
You should never have to pay a company to shop for them. You may need to pay for your dinner and be reimbursed or buy something and then return the item but you never pay the shopping company anything. They pay you.
