scam phone call part 2 & 3 & 4

Okay. This guy from "Prize America" has called me EVERY day since the first call..wants to "verify" my
credit card # to send me a gas certificate (in first call it was a lady with a gas card). I have told him no over and over..I will NOT be giving him ANY info. I told him not to call because I do not want this "prize"...he said " No , that is not possible." ?! Huh? He keeps saying he isn't out to get my info but it must be "verified". The # he calls from seems to belong to numerous scams.. I called it and selected #1 to be placed on the do not call list.. but an hour ago the phone rang , caller id said it was him again. I'm not sure what to do here. I can not find a valid # for prize america on the web except for the daily draw ...any advice please?

Other than reporting the number to your local police department, there is nothing you can do.

If the number starts with "876", those are what I call my Jamaican buddies!

No matter what you say to them or yell at them, they carry on with their whole speech completely ignoring you. There is actually a hot line now where I live referring people to report as much information as they can get from these guys to their local police department.

You can't block them, get rid of them, or anything. So, you might as well have some fun with it.

My husband carries on messing them and gives them the police department's phone number as his own number. He's so funny that the guy one time asked why there is someone laughing in the background. He said it was his children playing Playstation 2, "do you have a Playstation 2", "isn't it great?", blah, blah, blah. He even had the guy talking about wrestling one time!

The Jamaican scammers will change around who they say they are with too--UPS, FBI, Fedex, company names, sweepstakes companies, etc.

To Report a Scam
Fight telephone fraud. Report telephone scam artists to the Federal Trade Commission and your state Attorney General. The Telemarketing Sales Rule gives these local law enforcement officers the power to prosecute fraudulent telemarketers who operate across state lines.

The FTC works to prevent fraudulent, deceptive and unfair business practices in the marketplace and to provide information to help consumers spot, stop and avoid them. To file a complaint or get free information on consumer issues, visit ftc.gov or call toll-free, 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357); TTY: 1-866-653-4261. Watch a new video, How to File a Complaint, at ftc.gov/video to learn more. The FTC enters consumer complaints into the Consumer Sentinel Network, a secure online database and investigative tool used by hundreds of civil and criminal law enforcement agencies in the U.S. and abroad.

Here's more information on phone scams:

However, the last time I read, emails and phone calls from outside the country have been impossible for the government to stop. I believe this falls under the jurisdiction of the Interpol; and, last I read, they weren't taking up this cause. So, I have no idea what progress, if any, the Attorney General has made with international scammers to date.

Thank you for the advice..I will be making some calls myself, tomorrow. I did think it would be fun to have my husband sing one of his greatest hits to my telescammer..maybe an old Bon Jovi hit ( his specialty!) :sunny:

Re: scam phone call part 2 & 3 & 4

I just got a call from a company and the caller was a lady saying that I won a "$250.00 shopping certificate for Wal-mart" and that my credit card company gave them my phone number. She then stated that I won 6 different magazines and all I would have to do is pay the shipping cost (Red flag - NEVER pay shipping cost). Then she sent me to her supervisor - he went over the same spiel, then he asked me to verify my c.c. exp. date.... THEN he had the guts to ask me for my c.c. #. That's when I said "I never give out my c.c. info. and my c.c. company knows that I am still a member." So I said "Have a good day" & I hung up.
Their phone number is 423-581-5397 - they call themselves "Publishers" (not clearing house). I wanted to share this with all of my sweepsadvantage friends & keep them from getting scammed. I immediately called my c.c. co. & asked them about it and they assured me that they did not give my info. to any second party company.
