My daughter called this morning very excited saying she got a call and her husband won a trip.
She goes on to tell me she doesn't remember entering anything and I asked her where the trip was, she says 2 nights in Orlando or Vegas...now I'm really suspicious.
I ask her if they were sending the affy and she says no, she is going into their office and could she borrow money for taxes...So I tell her this is not how it works. I ask for the number...
I call the number and tell them they showed up on my caller ID, she looks at her caller ID and says yes, what my name..
ok now I know it's a scam, but I play along as she tells me about trip, she says it's free, but I will have to pay taxes. I ask "How do I pay the taxes? what will I owe"...she says I pay FEDERAL TAXES to Sundance Travel Agency!
WOW! I've done sweeps and had calls from some scammers before, but never has anyone told me to pay them FEDERAL TAX!
So I tell my daughter and she is pretty upset about it. Even more so when I remind her that I can't babysit next week because I am going on a 3 day 2 night trip I won from Gourmet/Kayak last June...sigh, the irony..
