Just got a call, from "Sweepstakes Promotions" telling me I'm a finalist to win an automobile in a drawing I entered & that I "won" for sure 1 of 4 prizes and to call 866-506-0953 ASAP - He also said that it would be "in my best interest to return the call" :nono:
I've had REAL winning calls, and they don't act vague about the name of the sweeps or what I won, so I knew right off it was a scam.
This is just as a warning for those who might get fooled - REAL winning calls don't sound like this one!!! :nono:
btw - did a little digging - seems they have called TONS of people {sweepers and non-sweepers} and there are numerous postings on them.
It seems to point to a company called Star Point Resorts which is most likely a time share - and the litany of "prizes" fits:
1. A new ford sweepstakes Explorer or $25000 cash
2. a $2500 cash prize
3. A 3 day 2 night trip for me and my family to one of four locations
4. a 32" Toshiba Plasma HDTV
So if you get this call, DON'T give out any personal info (they probably just have your name from a mailing list) and DON'T agree to pay taxes in advance!!!
