ReddyYeti disqualifies sweepers accounts

Reddyeti disqualified sweepers accounts
I was entered in their giveaway and per their rules and regulations, they disqualify sweepers accounts. I sent them an email I don't expect an answer back to. Here's a quote from their rules:

"ReddyYeti Sweeps/Giveaway Accounts will be Disqualified.

Definition of a sweeps/giveaway account:
We view them as an account that is used only or mostly for entering giveaways. Where 60% of the tweets/posts shared on a daily basis are for giveaways that that person is NOT hosting, but has entered and is hoping to win.

What exactly does it mean that they are "disqualified"?

What this means is if you have a sweeps/giveaway account you are still more than welcome to enter – you just are not allowed to use that sweeps/giveaway account to do so. If you are an action sport enthusiast and participated in any of these activities, then you are more then welcome to enter.

To make this easier to understand, when we check your Instagram, Twitter or facebook entry when pulled- if we see mostly non-giveaway tweet/post in 2-3 scrolls, you are fine to enter.

We are not trying to be difficult, We are trying to weed out a major hassle for ourselves and protect the startups and their current and potential fans.

Why are we disqualifying Sweeps/giveaway accounts?

The goal of ReddyYeti is to help build exposure for action sports startups and to help action sport enthusiast discover new brands that offer awesome products. We are not a giveaway site that caters to giveaway junkies just looking to win as many products as they can. We know the majority of you are not these people and that this rule may seem harsh, however to protect our community and the brands we work with I ask that you enter with a non sweeps/giveaway account.

We are a community that loves to get outside, whether it's to make some turns at your favorite hill, go bouldering at your local gym, hike the lost coast, kayak the most gnarly rapids of your life or just hang out with your friends outside. If you are someone that fits this description than we would love for you to become a part of ReddyYeti, but we hope that you understand why we have introduced this rule.

Cheers, The ReddyYeti Crew."

Needless to say I won't be engaging with their brand or products in the future. As a small business owner and a start-up I'm offended by this. I wanted to share so others know not to bother with their giveaways.

I know some smaller companies/blogs do not want/disqualify 'sweepers', and like you I disagree with this. When I buy something I will try to buy from companies and brands that I have interacted with during sweeping. I can not speak for others, but a good contest will create/strengthen my loyalty to a company and I have bought from some places that I would have never thought or heard of if it wasn't for a contest that they had. To disqualify someone that follows the rules just because they enter a lot of sweepstakes seems to be counterproductive to me.

I agree with your post. Why discriminate against sweepers especially those interested in your products? I emailed them but never heard back.

I hear you but it is their company and they can run the sweepstakes however they like.

I think a smarter thing for them is people that buy things on their website, post videos, helps really promote their business should get a significantly higher chance to win their contest. If a sweeper sees for example that a purchase entry will give you 10,000 points, I will just probably naturally not even sweep if I am getting just 1-5 points for following their twitter page, etc..

I'm not really clear how they define it. Is my gmail address with an extra dot in it for filtering purposes a sweeper account?
