received letter today from planet 49

I received a letter today via certified mail that I won $2500 cash in the 2013 sweepstakes from www.giantgiveaways.com. I have never won a cash prize before and I am excited but wondering if it is for real? There is an affidavit and w9 that they are asking for which asks for my social security number. Just looking for some validation that I truly have won my first big prize...
 
Sounds Legit to me! :) I have won cash prizes and trips that have all required the same info! Congrats on the great win! :)

Most likely is a real win. Could be the original winner ended up not getting the prize, so might be why took so long?? Congats on your win!!
 
Congrats!! Since it was certified mail, I would say it
is for real. I know it worries you about the SSN being asked for.
That would bother me also. Go ahead with it---I think you'll be okay.
 
Try and contact the company..any legit win requesting personal info should include a phone number for verification.I have received certified letters from scammers so don't trust the delivery method..validate for yourself!
 
Google "planet 49". It could be real, but looks suspect. Generally, if I don't remember entering a sweeps, I don't respond to "wins".
