Rain, Rain GO AWAY!!

I normally love rainy weather. It suits my personality, but this is getting ridiculous :cussing: over 30 hours non-stop. The dog has been going crazy. big surprise. And this morning it took us an extra long time to get to the bus stop because the children had to take their time and watch each and every step so they wouldn't squish the hundreds upon hundreds of worms in the road  I just walk. if I squish em oh well. They are everywhere.

I always hated worms all over the place! I'm just glad that since I don't have to go anyplace, I don't have to go out in it; but I do like rainy days too.

Evansville got the single biggest rainfall total since 1910 yesterday ~ 10 inches! So many school districts called off ~ again! Thank goodness ours wasn't one of them! We have had another two inches this morning though...I feel like quacking!

 Arkansas got pounded with heavy rain over the last day or so. It all ended here about 7am or so this morning. Yesterday though...wow! It rained, and rained, and rained. It poured buckets. It rained cats and dogs. The highway leading to my house, was underwater in one place and two other spots were being threatened (of course, these three low spots in the highway have always flooded over during extended heavy rains). Everything around here is flooded...I should drive out to Toad Suck Lock & Dam and see how high the Arkansas River currently is. It is over flood-stage right now, and rising.

 We use to love those rainy days growing up, so that we could collect all those worms. We had a nice bed of them along with a big cricket cage for the crickets we would capture. Then we would post a sign by the driveway and sell them to all the fisherman heading out to all the nearby lakes for the day. It was quite a profitable business for a kid without of start up money needed.

Sorry you all got so much rain, when the storm hit us last night it rained....and rained...and rained. After about 6 or so it became a drizzle until about 1:30 so we got lucky not to get as much rain as predicted. I was up until around 4:00am this morning keeping an eye on the news and weather. It's been a violent year so far and has just begun. I feel so bad for those in Arkansas, you all got the worst part of it.

ping1970, your not from the evansville tri-state are you. I'm from evansville and live up a huge hill. Luckily my drive didn't wash away this time, hard to believe. A neighbors sure did though.

I'm from Greenville, Kentucky ~ but I consider Evansville my stomping ground. It is my favorite place to go...we go ALL the time. My husband works at Alcan in Henderson-Sebree, so we are always keeping up with the weather up that way!

I was watching channel 14 this morning and Stephanie Silvey said there was like 10 pages of road closings this morning that was listed ~ WOW! We are suppose to head up that way this weekend IF I am feeling better, but we might have to skip it and head somewhere else

ping, you'd probably be ok by this weekend. I haven't gone out much but I haven't had any trouble on the main roads. Depends on where your going I guess. I've never seen them close schools up here for flooding since I can remember. It was pretty bad, but I think you'll be fine as long as your careful where you go. I know they have been fining people for going through water even though the roads don't all have signs because there was so many roads flooded that they ran out of barriers to put up. It's neat finding someone on here that is so close to where we are.

I can't believe that people are crazy enough to go on flooded roads like that ~ you know! Okay, I know you don't go on Water Works Road when it is bad and I am from Muhlenberg County...duh...some people just like to push their luck and I think it is crazy.

I am just wanting to come up and hit the "Going Out of Business" Sale at Sofa Express by Target. We are getting ready to redo our living room, kitchen, and bedroom and I am going to have to really pinch pennies to be able to do it ~ but I love their stuff. I love the whole vibe of Evansville ~ it is safe feeling to me. I can drive there by myself and never feel like I am in danger. I guess I would probably move there if I had to move to a city.

My Uncle lived in Evansville for years ~ his name was Sherrill Barnes. He passed away about 5 years ago. We used to come up there when I was small and that was when I fell in love with the city ~lol! I was just amazed that there was a place that had a 24 hour grocery store!! At that time it was unheard of...man, has that place changed!!!

Nice to know that I have a close neighbor also! Are you a Double Cola fan like my Uncle was? That was all they ever drank???
