Question concerning Residential address

My husband and I bought a house less then a year ago. Our street signs says Thunderbear Rd, our Platt map says Thunderbear Rd and the Deed to our property says Thunderbear Rd. So I have always given my address as Thunderbear Rd. I just noticed that our utility bills, bank statements, some junk mail and other mail have my address as Thunder Bear Ln but I also get mail addressed to Thunderbear Rd. I have no idea where Thunder Bear LN came from. I haven't gone to the Post Office yet. Next on my list.

I have had some Sweepstakes tell me I entered the wrong address or Zip code when I tried to register and they say to double check it. I yell at the computer (lol) that it is the right address and hit the enter button again. Today, I had one tell me it was the wrong address and wouldn't let me enter so I changed my address to Thunder Bear Ln and it took it.

My question is do you think it will make a difference where the Sweepstakes are concerned? I have had FedEX and UPS out here but have also had a problem with Fedex with one prize. They emailed me and said they didn't know where I lived, even though they had been out 2 weeks earlier. I finally went into town and picked it up myself. I just worry that I will win something but the sponsor's computer will say there is no such address and give my winnings to someone else.

So what do you think? Should I change my address on the entries?

Thanks for your help.
Good Luck to all.

I would double check with the post office and see what they have listed. I guess you could also put
Thunderbear Rd Lane on your entries! At least that covers all bases (I think!). Things like this are so frustrating. We used to live in a city that had a different city's zip code, you could list either city and it actually got to us (sometimes!). I wish you the best of luck!

Hi Rog.... I would also go down to the post office to get it checked out and verified as to what is your "right" address. As for the sweepstakes, I'm totally confused. I thought they take any address as long as it's not a restricted area. Contact a sweepstake sponsor and see what they have to say.

Hope this helps and Happy Winningssss

Thank you for your replies.

I went to the post office. They really didn't know, then they checked their book and they had Thunder Bear Ln but the head person there said it is Thunderbear Rd since that is what is on my deed and they were going to change it in their computer. I should note that I am the only house on this mile long street so it won't be a problem for others.

I didn't think it made a difference either but somewhere there is a computer out there with all of the correct addresses, that's why when I had everything hooked up here and gave Thunderbear Rd, all of the bills came as Thunder Bear Ln and some Sweepstakes wouldn't take my address because the Post Office had a different one listed.

Thanks again.

When we bought this property there was an existing rural box in place as there are two houses. The other house is unoccupied so we moved the box east about 100 feet and it became our new address leaving the other house its very own (without a box in front) The rural mail delivery person agreed and helped re-register the new spot on the road. I very patiently informed everyutility, and everyone else that sends mail of the new existance that I wanted to be known by rural bx 0000 and had them change it in their computers. It has all worked out fine for five years....good luck.

Check with your county assessor office (the property tax people) of your county. You can bet your sweet bibby they know what you address is. Then what ever it really is make sure the PO, street sign people etc get it right.
