Question about prizes

I started sweeping last Thanksgiving time so my wins are just now starting to arrive. I'm wondering how common it is to receive a prize different from that which you were told you won. I received an email that I won a Parentime XBox Golden compass sweeps and that I would receive either the golden compass xbox 360 game or a movie prize pack. Instead, I received a golden compass PS2 game ( my kids have a 360). Then, the next day I received my prize from the sesame street rhyme your way sweeps. I had won a sesame street learning laptop, and received a confirmation email stating that as well. Instead, I received some sesame street books, with a letter that I have received my prize of a "sesame street book puzzle pack".

I'm not complaining, I promise. A win is a win and is appreciated, but I'm wondering if this is just a norm of sweeping or if this is something of a mistake?

Most sweep rules state the prize you will receive, or a prize of equal or greater value. If you are satisfied with these prizes great. Personally, I would check with the sponsor on both, especially on the sesame street laptop, the books don't seem to be an equal prize and mistakes do happen. Good luck. :)

thanks! I think I will email sesame street, there is an email address for any questions about the prize! :sunny:

I am glad to hear that you are going to contact the sponsor, it doesn't hurt to ask. I know that if I was to win a specific prize and yet, a prize came that I didn't win I would contact them. Remember to be nice about it and thank the sponsors in the email for the prizes you won.

 I sat here thinking about this, trying to remember if that had every happened to me and I can say that of all the hundreds of prizes I have received it was the prize I was expecting except for one time when I thought I won a little stair stepper and instead I received a complete home gym!
Best of luck to you in 2008!

I had won a 38" flat screen TV and was expecting a flat panel TV (not stated, the rules said "flat screen" which can include CRT TVs), and what we received was a 42" flat screen CRT. It's a gorgeous, brand-name TV, but not what we were expecting, so yes - this is not uncommon!

I think it's probably pretty common.

I had a gift basket that was "at the sponsor's discretion" as to what was in it, but it was supposed to be a $50 value. When I got it I knew it wasn't worth $50 & looked at their site to see what the value was - it was worth more like $12 - $15.

I won a $100 Armani Exchange GC & when I called them they said it was a $150 certificate. That was a nice difference! :sunny:

Most recent I was supposed to get a camcorder with bag, DVDs and extended life battery. All I got was the camcorder.

I'm not sure if they do this on purpose or the companies are overwhelmed. I've followed up on the camcorder, there's no way I was going to correct them about giving me MORE money than they said, and the gift basket just wasn't worth calling them about. I was happy to have received what I did.

I think you should e-mail or call or whatever. We usually have documentation that states what we're "supposed" to get. I'm sure they do also. Hope you can get it straightened out without too much hassle! :sunny:
