Question about 'always reading the sweepstakes rules.'

So, I heard that you're supposed to always make sure you read the rules or you could end up accidentally disqualifying yourself.
Can someone give me an example of how you could accidentally disqualify yourself? Or anything else that could go wrong by not reading the rules?
Because tbh the rules are often several pages worth of fine print legal-ease and I'm not reading all that.
 
There is a Teramana sweeps where, if you inadvertently enter more than 10 times, they will void all your entries. So you just have to keep on your toes.
 
I would suggest reading them until you are familiar with the way they usually word them. After that you can just skim through them. Pay attention to the time zones. Sorry SA but a lot of posters on here do not get the correct time zone. I've corrected many.
