I Just got a phone call claiming I won a prize through their strike it rich sweepstakes an I should of gotten apost card on this to call them he send several were sent to me, either I don't remember or they it wasnt important enough to catch my eye, but he sent I won a large amount of money an in order to get it I have to send insurance money $400.00 I told him if I won it I should not have send money for somethang I already won the he says mame I not suppose to tell you but you also won a bmw car an a large screen t.v too, I said I get those kind of emails all the time I would be a zillion air by now ,he said I am from Las vegas an we took the taxes out so this money is tax free..I told hime well if I won that large amount of prizes the a courier would come to by door so I could sigh of this , he said yes after you pay the issurance them some would come to your door set up which bank ,an how you want it set up. Im still not comfortable with this I said I'v won lots of sweepstakes I haver never had to pay ofr the insurance, Well he gave me a code an a number an his name he told me he will call me back later while I think about it....Please input was this a scam ?? Do you have to pay insurance on a big amount of prize win? thank for your input
 
:wave: The Strike it Rich Sweepstakes and those like it are ALL scams. You certainly did the right thing. If they call again, be sure to tell them that your conversation is being recorded (even though it isn't)so that you can turn it over to the FBI. See how fast they hang up!
 
Congrats ~ I know it is so hard during the moment to think that you are passing up the BIG one ~ but you did the exact right thing!! Pat yourself on the back, and enter for some more free sweeps!! Good luck and I hope that your big one is coming soon!!
 
You did the right thing sweety- those scammers make me so mad ! Not only is it illegal but it's very CRUEL :nono:
I feel elated when I win a keychain and giving people false hope like that is just plain WRONG. They should be punished severley!

Thank you all sooo much for all your good in-put!! Would You beleave I just got a call from the same person to call him back at 7:15 this morning!!!
 
A SCAM all the way. No one should EVER have to pay any money to win anything. This scam started in europe. A woman was contacted by someone overseas and told she won a foreign lottery work millions. She was told that she would have to post money and she did($40,000). When she found out it was a scam she committed suicide. NEVER GIVE ANYONE MONEY.
 
Thanks amyshulk....had the basics lol.....thought it was more $. I work in a casino and see hustlers, pick pockets and many other undesirables every day. Never trust anyone that suddenly gets very friendly or to close....back off and walk away....preferable towards employees or security. Never give a stranger money....because you have to open your pocketbook and wallet....inviting someone to grab and run.
