Anyone getting calls saying you won money? When I ask what contest, they say a ipad or iphone. Then they say they want to pre-qualify you. The calls also come from an obvious call center....the person getting on is delayed because the computer is making the calls. I have asked them not to call back 3-4 times now....well, the last time it was my SO...and he wasn't too nice to the person on the other end (only because I had asked them to stop calling already.) Anyone else getting these?

I don't know - I really do screen all calls :crazytongue:

Did you catch the # ? I always look them up:

http://www.whitepages.com/reverse_phone

I also check to see if anyone else gets them, and so far, all long distance calls {that I don't recognize as from friends/family} have always been marked as spammers for months, if not for years! :crazytongue:

Okay...the very small amount of contest winning calls I have gotten came from non-identified numbers (no name/unavailable). However, these calls are coming from various long distance numbers. I just don't want to miss a real winning call! :crazytongue:

Right - I was just saying the ones that I get that I don't recognize have always been spammers/telemarketers.

This is why I am NO help for ID'ing the good calls - I never get any :crazytongue:

Ohhhh....I see. ;) Well, I just can't take the chance it's a real one. So, I am left hoping that the &^%$(@ Chuck gave them discouraged future calls. So far, so good. They were calling twice or three times a day for a couple days, then a break, then back to calling again. @@

Ask them for the 'specific' company sponsoring the sweepstakes. If they have none, then it is probably a spammy call.

Yes...I agree. I did ask, and they did not answer...only to say..."oh, it was an ipad and iphone". I enter for dozens of them a day! And they are telling me I won odd amounts of cash....just weird stuff.

I did get a call on my voicemail on Mother's Day. Jake from prize distribution but he never left the sweepstakes name or company. I googled the telephone number he left on my voicemail. Under that telephone number there were people complaining about that telephone number and reporting to file a complaint to FTC.

Yes...I guess it makes sense....a spam/scammer is not going to leave his company name. Those kind of "companies" that spam/scam should get a life.

prize distribution <<<>>> RUN!!! :crazytongue:

Seriously, there outta be a law... oh wait, there is, right - fraud? At the very least, it's misrepresentation!!!

just say you are on the Do Not Call List - they can get fined for calling you so should hang up

Ah yes, but if you didn't pay attention to the privacy policy for a specific sweeps, {like SEARS} they might be allowed to call you, since entering will void the DNC list {Do Not Call List}

So if you put them back on the DNC list you just *might* void your entry

SA just lists them - reading the rules/privacy policy is necessary & on each of us :)

Once you have their identity, you can threaten them that you will have them listed here. That usually does the trick. they hate that.

I never got a company name or anything since they never would tell me! They just kept saying it was a contest with prizes of an ipad and/or iphone. @@ They were very vague....and I lost patience fast. I hate wasting my time with that stuff.
