People not following rules/lying

UGH! I Had these young people advertising to a large group on FB how easy it is to win on a smoking instant win. This was on a different site not even related to sweeps. I gently reminded all of the people, you must be a smoker to enter these. Response back "OMG you do not need to be a smoker, just fill out the information and click which brand you smoke!"
UHM, isn't that lying?
I am not a smoker, so I ignore all of these, but I checked again today and every sweep looks like it requires you to be a smoker AND prove it with a pin.
I went through the economic down of the 08's with sweeps and it was rough. I really hope an uptick in lying doesn't cause companies to choose to spend their advertising dollars elsewhere.
Okay, end of rant. I think I was right to call them out and hope I was. I never responded after telling them to stop lying. I really hate facebook! I just put them on ignore. I just can't stop thinking maybe I was wrong....

You weren't wrong. They were lying, cheating and stealing

The tobacco companies all require that you be a smoker or a tobacco consumer to login to their site(s). Once you certify that you are, then your free to enter the site and participate in any activity found there. I've never seen a non-smoking entry prohibition in the rules. It's all about the certification that your a user before you allowed to visit the site(s). Of course, if you can't visit the site, your locked out of entering the sweep.

I've read many excuses written by people in an attempt to justify/rationalize their actions. There is no excuse, and there is no justification. You're either a tobacco consumer or you're not. If not, then they have lied to the Tobacco Companies, cheated when they enter the sweep and any win they get will have been stolen from another tobacco consuming sweeper who had a legitimate right to enter the sweep.
