OZZY Commercial

Has anyone seen this commercial? He goes into a coffee shop and orders a coffee but the guy can't understand him so Ozzy has to text his words. It is just too funny.

Yes! That's actually his real Birmingham accent. In those parts of England, they're speech actually has to be translated, because it's not understandable.

It's pretty funny  I used to watch his show on MTV and at least you could understand some things he said.

Even though his language was already English, for him it's like speaking a foreign language and coming here and trying to talk our language.

No, he's not purposely talking worse. That is how they speak where he comes from. It's called a "Brummie" accent.

If you ever watched the History Channel when they do something on England and they interview people from those areas, they give you the translation at the bottom of the screen for what they are saying.

 Watching interviews with the Gallagher brothers from Oasis is just as bad. And I never could understand a word the character Ruth on Eastenders said (she was Scottish)

My MIL is brit and I understand her. I do think it's because she's been in the states for a long time. I know sometimes it's hard to understand anyone with a thick accent though.

No, he isn't speaking worse in those other commercials. He is using his "Brummie" accent in those. In this commercial, he is speaking English in the American dialect.

The "Brummie" accent is not nearly the same as the mainstream British accent. The regular Brits probably wouldn't be able to make out the "Brummie" accent.

You should look it up to understand it more.

Ozzie speaks alot better now in the American dialect than he did in the '70's.
