WASHINGTON — Want a top job in the Obama administration? Only pack rats need apply, preferably those not packing controversy.

A seven-page questionnaire being sent by the office of President-elect Barack Obama to those seeking cabinet and other high-ranking posts may be the most extensive — some say invasive — application ever.

The questionnaire includes 63 requests for personal and professional records, some covering applicants’ spouses and grown children as well, that are forcing job-seekers to rummage from basements to attics, in shoe boxes, diaries and computer archives to document both their achievements and missteps.

Only the smallest details are excluded; traffic tickets carrying fines of less than $50 need not be reported, the application says. Applicants are asked whether they or anyone in their family owns a gun. They must include any e-mail that might embarrass the president-elect, along with any blog posts and links to their Facebook pages.

The application also asks applicants to “please list all aliases or ‘handles’ you have used to communicate on the Internet.”

Most of that is discrimination and invasion of privacy. That's far, far more than they even need for a national background check to carry a fire arm! :nono:

That equates to more "control".

well then they dont need to apply for his administration. No one is putting a gun to their heads. If proper vetting was done more often we wouldnt have the "surprises" we get with political figures.

which questions couldnt be answered? seriously if he had an application that was not as thorough people would be saying he is putting the country at risk! how dare he not ask all the questions he can to make sure the right person is in his administration.

Much ado about nothing

I saw it on ABC news and they were laughing about it. They interviewed a couple people and they laughed saying they probably sent embarrassing emails.

Exactly ~ look what happened when McCain didn't ask enough questions about Palin ~ they ended up with a VP candidate that had an unwed pregnant daughter and she couldn't be asked any spontaneous questions for fears of embarrassing her camp. They got caught with their pants down and I don't blame anyone going into office to want to avoid that at all costs.

I say that is more the norm than the exception anymore anyway, but this is the first time we are hearing about it to this length.

But Tam Sarah Palin is doing great these days. Look at all the press she is getting and apparently that story about Africa was false.

Sarah may run in 2012 but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Let's see what Obama can do.

Yet, there are many, many people who so easily acquiesce to all the excessive control the government wields over us.

I guess their process of dumbing down has been very successful. Not many people left who question anything anymore--most have just become drones just like in the movie, "The Wall", where the children walk in and out of the school like robots. Remember the words in the song, "We don't need no thought control", "Hey, teacher, leave them kids alone".

I missed the African story ~ lol! Hiding from the TV as usual.

As far as Palin goes that is a matter of opinion and I don't care for her. I think she was picked to try to fill the Hilary niche and it didn't work. I gave her a chance but didn't see anything impressive about the woman the whole time she was VP running mate. I'm sorry, but it is just my opinion.

Oh hon you are certainly entitled to your opinion. She said if God made a way she would run. Bobby Jindel is another name mentioned. I may have spelled his name wrong. He's govenor of Louisiana and he is pretty good.

I agree that the "Office of the President Elect" is rather pompous. However, Newsmax is not without its biases. You can click on a link to buy Ronald Reagan playing cards and fleecewear.

Hmmm good point but the picture is there so I guess that part is correct and especially since the title is in my op
