Newbie with autofill questions

Hello All,

Please forgive me in advance if I'm posting in the wrong place, I'm a newbie to forums as well as SA and sweeping!! I've been searching on this site and in its forums for a better understanding of the legalities of using Roboform, etc. I'm confused about how to tell if roboform, google autofill, autocomplete or the like are permitted in a given sweeps/contest. I read the rules for anything I am entering, but I am unclear if these type of programs count as "automated". What about the rules that say something about macro or script? I don't want to DQ myself, but I feel like I am doing entries manually when perhaps I don't need to be. Can anyone clarify and/or give me some tips to feel more confident about understanding the rules?

Please and thank you in advance....everyone seems very nice here.

Hi bonnieisawinner, and welcome to SA!

Many people use Roboform. It is a form filler, not a bot.

There are a few threads on Roboform in the Tech/Computer Help forum which you may find helpful. Here are links, plus a quote from the first post:

Roboform

It's a form filler, nothing more. Most sponsors get that and don't consider robo "automatic entry" - they are referring to "bots" or programs that enter FOR you.

lwaxana:

A "bot" is an automated program that can be used for manipulating numerous email addresses, often for purposes of fraud. Sometimes cheaters write scripts that enter contests multiple times using many different email addresses for one person. The existence of bots is one reason why so many sweepstakes sites use "Captcha" code (words, letters, or numbers that you have to type in), so that they can make it difficult for non-humans to enter.

However, some do say it is a macro, and therefore not allowed. Every person has to make the decision for themselves on whether or not to use Robo.

:sunny: Welcome to SA bonniesawinner! I have been using Roboform for years and it sure hasn't prevented me from winning. It is a real time saver. Best of luck to you! Hope to see you posting a win soon!

Thank you for the clarification and links. Now I just have to figure out how to use Roboform more efficiently than I do now.

Thanks again.

RoboForm is cool, but SweepstakesNinja is a lot better! Does cost though, but totally worth it. More information in the Sweepstakes tools of this website. :)
