Need Advice Please

Hi all,

I could use a little advice, I was notified by e-mail I was a potential Grand Prize winner of a larger contest (approx. $22,000) and that I needed to send my information (name, address, age ) for verification. I did this both by e-mail (twice) and left a VM (twice) , I did get ahold of the person handling it last Monday 6/1 and he stated that it is usually 24 / 48 hours after he receives the info that I would be contacted. He didn't say how by phone or mail or FedEx. This was a week ago.. I have left several messages and e-mails but no response. Here's my problem.. we are moving this Monday 6/15 from Pennsylvania to Florida and I do not know what I should do.. I would hate to miss out on this prize because the marketing rep isn't returning my requests for help. What direction should I take now? I don't want to be perceived as a pain in the behind, I just need to know what I should do about moving. Any suggestions on how I should proceed?

Thanks

congrats on the win. I would call again and again and again until I spoke to someone. I normally wouldnt say keep calling but this sounds like a unique situation. Maybe ask to speak to someone else.

Which sweepstakes was it? It sounds odd that they didn't first send you an affidavit to be signed and notarized first for a prize that large. I would think that they would already have your name, address, and age from the entry.

Since your post was sooooo ambiguous it is really hard to give you any advice.

(the following is partly serious and partly in fun... )

They sent you an email which you responded to several times in several ways beyond what was requested... right???
Before the poor guy had a chance to respond back, you called him ... right???
He stated that you would be contacted (ie: sent all the final info), but you have emailed and called several additional times ... right???

Guess what? You are being ignored!  And probably with good reason. It sounds like you have been harassing the poor guy to death! :error: Now you will find yourself waiting on him ... probably for a considerably longer period than normal.

They all work on the same principle: getting information (or affy), verifing that information, then sending confirmation, and finally sending out the prize (contact) by the sponsor (maybe not the poor fulfillment/administrator guy who is now hiding under his desk).

Did you tell him you were moving when you talked to him on the phone? (if no: why not?)
Did you tell him at least once you were moving via one of your many e-mails?
Did you tell him at least once you were moving via one of your many voice mails?

If you answered yes to any of the above: Mellow out! He has gotten your message. But is ignoring you.

If you answered no to all of the above: oh well ... you are gonna be "like a hardware fastener".

They are a bunch of nerds in a cramped office working their way through night school. After they have your info and refer it ... they are finished with you! They have done their job and have moved on to the next 50 people on the daily list

My advice: Forward your mail .... (at least until December of NEXT year!)

   don't worry ... be happy ... everything will be just ducky. :crazytongue:

I know I am being a pain, but in all honesty if it were a potential win of yours you most likely would be as well. I am having the mail forwarded but FedEx doesn't provide that service so if an affy is sent it will just be returned ( thus resulting in a forfeit). I don't believe it is to much to ask for common courtesy, a one line e-mail back confirming that the move is ok, they have the new address or if it will affect things. If it were a t-shirt I'd say no biggie, I have been doing this for years and I know how the marketing companies work. Did I tell him the one time I did speak with him.. no.. it was very short he asked if I e-mailed the info, he couldn't discuss details and that I would hear in 24/ 48 hours. It has been over a week now and I only have 4 business days until we move. Per his e-mail I am to call with questions.. so I am calling.

Grand Prize: 3-day/2-night trip for four to New York, NY; includes first class airfare, accommodations in Deluxe King rooms at the SoHo Grand Hotel, limo service from the airport and to dinner; $400 Visa gift card, two models, bodyguard; and $5,000 per diem (ARV $22,639)

I went through a simular situation. I was notified by email that I had one the grand prize. I contacted them by telephone. Then I did not hear from them for several weeks. :headbang: They finally contacted me, and believe me it was well worth the wait. The company made a really big deal. They delivered the win to our house and took lots of pictures. I :headbang:t was very rewarding. I suggest you give them time.

I remember that sweepstakes. Maybe, it will make you feel better to know that most of the trip's costs would have come from those four round-trip, first-class airline tickets. First class is big, big bucks. You would have ended up paying more in taxes on those than the cost of economy class tickets.

I feel so bad for you. I thought I won just a 100 gift card from Coastal Connections (NOBODY DO THAT CONTEST) I sent all info and to this day have not gotten a thing but my email hijacked, my computer hacked, my days and nights fixing my computer from attacks and even now I get phone calls harrassing me one scam after another. I have never won a big one and I have been doing this night and day for 11 months. I love the tshirts and the other things but I think the 4 C's are so alluding me I may never have one. Cash, Cars, Cruises and Carats? Is those the items they mean? Well once again I am sorry seems like such a let down. Did they disqualify you or sumpin?
