Momlogic

wow that is harsh
I guess I should take my size 14
and hide under a rock.

Sounds like its written by the same guy who trolls the "Fit but Fat" sites all the time. He's probably about 400 lbs and lives in his Mom's basement. :crazytongue:

Before I had the boys and weighed 135-140 pounds I was a size 12. No belly or thick thighs either! Size 12 is my goal weight. Hell, 14 sounds very nice too!Now I want to freaking die! Thanks, douchebag

wow, well I'm bigger then all of you. No I don't like my weight, but thats mean what she said. Alot of people don't like it either, look at all the comments.

yea I was a size 11 in highschool, wieghed 130 lbs. And my parents didn't want me to lose anymore weight.

Food/weight, is such a big issue with women, and we def don't need some stupid lady putting people down for it.

I'm super pissed. It's late but I think I'm going to email MomLogic tomorrow. This is BS, really. I get the eat less and exercise bit. I've been dieting off and on since I was 16. This ain't my first rodeo. But this b!tch is rude. If I were a size 4 I'd have to be a crackhead. I'm 5'10" and medium built. I haven't seena size 4 since I was in 4th grade probably.

Give the twat a piece of molten lava cake and a beer. And kick her tofu-eatin' a$$ while you're at it!

I'm not even going to read it, it will just piss me off.

You know, I was watching a commercial a few minutes ago about Dove giving self esteem classes to kids, teens and adult women and I think that is wonderful.

I don't want my children to have a eating disorder to fit in or be at a weight everyone thinks or says they have to be. They can shove those opinions somewhere and I'm overweight also, it's been a battle since having kids.

speaking of wieght issues.

I took kailey to the doctors the other day. Shes 5 yearold and weighs 51 lbs. I don't remeber her height. But anyways the doctor tells me, in front of kailey, that she is overweight!! She even uses the word obese. She shows me her bmi or whatever its called. ANd it was sopposed to be 18 or something, and it was 19. She wants her to come back in 6 months to be checked to see if shes gained any wieght.

I don't know. It just made me mad. Especially to say it in front of kailey.

Poor girl, they will and they will be harsh about it too. My son is overweight but, my daughter is at a great weight. My son knows it, we are working on it but, it's not like he needs to be reminded by everyone!

It doesn't make sense to me though. Kailey has always been chunky, since she was born. When she was 3 she started thinning out. And now she is skinny, but healthy. ughh doctors. She probably just looked at me, and was like, I better fix it right now. So shes not like her mom.

BMI is a joke
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18043813/
“If you’re going to classify a person as overweight by BMI, depending on who you’re working with, that may not be the best way to do it,” he says.

While prior research has found that BMI isn’t always an accurate indicator of fatness in athletes, who may be more muscle than fat, the new study is one of the first to show that BMI may not necessarily work for the general population either.

Maybe the doc should do some current reading, like the journal Archives of Disease in Childhood where a recent study showed...

Using body mass index (BMI, a ratio of weight to height) to determine whether children are achieving exercise targets may not be effective, say British researchers who studied 113 boys and 99 girls over four years.

The researchers found no difference in BMI between children who got regular exercise and those who didn't, BBC News reported. However, blood tests for health indicators such as cholesterol levels and insulin resistance showed the children who got regular exercise were in better shape.

"BMI just doesn't pick up any differences in children -- it's just not a sufficiently sensitive measure," said study leader Professor Terry Wilkin, of the Peninsula Medical School in Plymouth.

I can see the doc doing this, tiff. I've been a size 14 through a size 18 ever since I had our youngest(currently a size 16). I remember the lady at WIC saying our sons were overweight and off the chart and that by looking at me we had to get this under control. Yeah, alrighty then you dumb a$$. I'm 5'10", their dad is 6'8". The boys were 6 months and a little over 5. They didn't fit into any chart because they were bred from monsters LOL They're going to be bigger than your average baby, kid. Some kids aren't going to fit that average mold from which those charts are made. And I as their mom don't sit around scarfing down cheeseburgers and fries you retard.

OK, calming myself down  Still ticked about that article.

Oh, and Red, BMI is a joke. According to that chart my hubby is considered obese. I posted a pic of him in a photo thread a while back. He's exactly the same size weight-wise, just a tad more muscular since that pic was taken. They can stick that BMI index where the sun don't shine.

I had just about every doc tell me my daughter was overweight. now when she was a baby she was, I will admit that. She was HUGE!.. She was always in the 100 percentile in weight until she was around a year old. I love fat babies. The last doctor said she was the ideal weight for her height. She isnt fat. She is tall for her age. she is 12 and 5' 5"..

I think doctors need to realize we cant all be a size 4. everyone is built different so those stupid BMI and percentile things are just...garbage.

Girls and women are hard enough on themselves without having another woman knock them and put them down. size 12 is not obese. When I saw that on mom logic I wanted to track down the skinny minnie and just shove a twinkie in her mouth.

In all seriousness, LDS, you are right. I didn't realize at first that the author was a member/guest. I thought she/he was an editor, writer, what have you. And I wouldn't want MomLogic censoring a member/guest. I never did email them because I was too pissy to be rational. Now I'm glad I didn't.

That may be but Im not going to visit a site that allows this garbage whether they agree with it or not. They can take their site and shove it up their size 2 butts. And thats my right and my opinion.

Not everyone is overweight by choice ~ I am the prime example! Most people would be surprised at how I eat. I do eat very healthy(today NOT included! Took the inlaws out for dinner after a doctor visit!). I am trying my best to teach Jimmie the same lesson...he doesn't understand that just because I am overweight that I haven't sat around eating sweets ever since the kids were born ~ go to my family reunions and I am one of the 'smaller' ones!

I have asked him over and over if he has tried for high cholesterol, but he can't seem to make the connection. I told him that no one wants high cholesterol, to be overweight, or to have cancer, but sometimes these things are out of our control and due to genetics! I might have to slap it into his head though!!
