Mom may lose house, not sure what to do

My friend Cava has worked with me as a friend to get me out of my depression. I am finally back home with Ken and have found him a lot of sweeps that are not in his database. I found them through my site, Sweep Hunter and did not steal from anyone, just my working on my site. I was budgeting my time better and working on my health and had moved my bed into the office, sleep oh sweet sleep.

Today the city notice came and the want the wood trim remove, what ever that is. They was the carport up to code and the house painted. As you know my mother has a birthday in September and I have my 50th in October. I need tires, oil change and more. I and her need new clothes.

I was so happy and now this. I do not know what to do. I do not know how to get the house up to code and if they go inside the house then it would mean over $15,000 in repairs and possibly them condemning the house. I do not want to put affiliates on Sweep Hunter and nobody goes there. I was stress free and for once standing up straight with shoulders squared. I cannot handle stress and have been working really hard to get as far as I have gotten.

I have the original inspection in 1963 but where I do not know. I told my mom to sell the house when the market was booming. We could live in Georgia, Texas or the Carolinas in a home for real cheap. I have been working on getting rid of stuff and organizing but am not ready to move but could move in a day if need be. I am so confused and hugs will do for now.

I do not to resort to begging for money, have nothing to sell, and do not want to start a fund for donations but how am I to get money and the house painted and weatherproofed and the numbers up and the carport up to date.

Churchy, let the town know your situation. There are groups that actually will come and help senior citizens get the repairs their houses need. Sometimes local groups like Elks, Jaycees, Habitat for Humanity and church groups will help. Don't give up, jump into action. There are many willing to help. You just need to make a few calls. With every call you make, you never know who they may know that can help.

Good luck. I am sending you hugs and good vibes for a positive outcome.

Also, if there are any trade SCH00LS nearby, they can help with some of the work. They use situations like this as training for their students.

Also, contact her local senior center. The people there are amazing at how they can help.

My church cannot provide workers and have never been there for me. I am an outcast there and not wanted. I miss going to church but health stinks and I live by faith but know my city. They refused to let Catholics, Hindus, AME and other relgious groups build. they told an old couple that they had to cut off part of their garage. My city is the meanest city in the west, :nono:

Hi Laurie,

Saw this one somewhere else but, did not have time to respond.

But, being in RE it got me thinking. Why are they doing the inspection in the first place?

Usually a complaint about a neighbor building to close or on anothers property causes the city to come out and demand action. My parents had to take down a barn they just built...over 5 inches. So...I can understand that.

But, I have never seen or heard about the city controling your carpet or wood trim??

What instigated this?

But, hang in there. If you were in my state....I would be helping you, because it sounds like an over zealous inspector putting his nose where it does not belong. Unless you have a home that is dangerous to live in or needs to meet specific guidlines to recieve funding for having a foster child/adult.

Just hang in there and be sure to vent and let go of that stress that builds and causes your health to decline. Don't need none of that.

Sometimes a neighbor will call the town if there is notable decay to a property. Houses that need work will inpact property values and selfish neighbors will call the town rather than either leaving it along or asking what they can do to help. Communication is a lost art in our society. It is easier to complain than to offer a hand. JMO.
