Maybe I'm wrong

I just have to express this opinion. When I look at the number of "hits" some of the sweeps get, I have to wonder if some people are "stuffing the ballot box". Entering multiple times with multiple addresses. It just doesn't seem possible for some of the sweeps to get that many hits in such a short time. That would make it almost impossible for a person following the rules to actually win. Any thoughts?

My thought is there are alot of sweepers??
Maybe they have (oh im probably going to jinx myself on this) but "crappy" computers. I know sometimes when I enter a contest, the computer messes up, and I usually have to go back to that webpage agian. Or push refresh, I don't know if that makes the hits go up.

When I first started sweeping, I would read the hits, and be like, ok I know im gonna win this, theres only this amount of people entering, this amount of prizes, etc. But then reality hit me, and I found out there were lots of other sweep sites, plus the normal people that happen to stumble upon the sweep.
AHHHHHHH :crazytongue: it will make u crazy to think of all the ifs

Tiff is right. There are quite a few online sweepstake sites out there. I think GT has a post somewhere that states sweeping is the second most popular activity on the internet.

Also, many sweeps are highly advertised. So, the number of entries are huge because you draw from everyone, not just sweepers and a small taget market.

Another thing to look at: Is the sweep a daily entry. Wow, those entries add up so quickly.

Most people abide by the rules. Sure there are some that enter for brothers/sisters/cousins as well as the cousin's dog. But, most people don't have the time and most follow the rules.

All I can say is I only enter for me and according to the entry rules. I have one e-mail address that I use for sweeps. I don't enter for anyone else. And, I have won my fair share of great prizes.

We all win. But, you have to be in it to win it.

Best of luck

I agree that it sure looks like allot of people hit on some of the contest, but I only enter myself and only for the contest I truly qualify for, and only one e-mail address, and I must say I win quite abit. Usually when I whine that I am not winning the man upstairs must hear me and lets me win some so I have something to think about and smile about besides all the problems life gives sometimes. lol So don't worry to much about who plays fair and doesn't, you will still win if you hang in there. :sunny:

Try this-using one of the many internet tools available see how many unique hits the contest site you are looking at actually gets in a month. Many smaller contests get as few as two thousand enteries. I've won a sweep where I was the only person to answer the triva question correctly :)

I always look at the hit count. I just got an email last night about a win and checked the hit count here at SA and its 446. not alot. The bigger the sweep the more people who enter. There are so many people entering its not surprising to see some sweeps with high hit counts in the first couple of days. I dont think it means people are cheating. some do. most dont though.

Sometimes I click on a sweep link just to look at the contest, but I don't enter it. More often, I will save a link to Robo and enter every day without clicking the site link. My point is the hits number doesn't accurately reflect how many times the contest has been entered.

True - some I click over and over, when the site is having problems, while others I never click!

I've found that when people go through a dry spell (add me to that list  :crazytongue: ) they tend to focus on things that may be preventing them from winning - it's a natural reaction, especially when you used to win so easily!!!

But, all the reasons people think of that may be preventing them from winning (more sweepers/cheaters/etc.) have minimal impact - it's really all about timing - either you have it or you don't.

Right now, I don't - so I focus on what I can do to help my fellow sweepers and try to avoid thinking of ways to bring myself down. :headbang:
