May Have Won

I received an email and missed a phone call from Kristen Hough from 123 Click saying they had ended a sweepstakes early but that I had won. It was for a 50,000 Backyard Makeover. I know I have entered several of these but could not find it again. It said because it ended early by almost a year, the prize they were offering was 25,000 instead of the 50,000 but that I had won it. The email contained a W-9 and a release form. Can anyone tell me if this was a legitimate sweeps that you remember entering? Thanks!

P.S. It was a remodel4free.com contest. That's where the rules link took me from the email.

I noticed that there were 22 views on this, but no one has answered! I hope someone can give you some information soon, I have no idea but wanted to wish you luck! Hope it all works out for you! :)

Thanks! I'm going to try calling the number in the morning again. I didn't see the email until 5:30 pm my time and the number is a PA number which is 2 hours ahead of me so maybe I will know something then!

I clicked into the link for the rules that was in the email and I remember entering a sweeps with that logo so I'm hoping it's legit. But I will definitely use caution. I was hoping someone else remembered the contest and could tell me for sure if it was a real contest that ended early.

I tried searching some of the key words from your post but didn't find anything similar - I will try again if you have the title of the sweeps or something specific. Here are a few things you can try - Is it listed on your current or expired sweeps list? Was it a daily or one entry or some other category? A good place to start is usually - Is it listed, and Did I enter?

You can also do some Google searches. You can search for the sweeps, and you can also search by copying and pasting some of the sentences in your email - that way if it is not legit, it may appear if other people questioned or complained about it.

The name was Backyard Makeover from Remodel4Free. It was not listed in my expired or current but I have not signed in in a long time until today. I had stopped entering sweeps for awhile recently. When I clicked into the rules link in the email, the logo looked very familiar. I remember entering a sweeps at a site with that logo. I have searched and can not find anything else about it. Everything looked and sounded legit to me but I will speak with them on the phone in the morning hopefully and will know something definite then. The email included a letter from the lady that called me, a w9 form to fill out and a release form. My email and physical address was included in the email and correct along with my full name. I had read some of the tips for spotting scam emails and it doesn't fit any of the stuff that I read.

Ok so I talked to the lady this morning and I emailed her my paperwork. She said they will issue me a cashier's check for 25,000 and will send it FedEx. Everything seemed legitimate so I'm pretty excited. She said the Manager of Accounting will be back from vacation in the morning and they will get back to me about when they mail the check. I asked if they could direct deposit and she said that will be answered tomorrow as well. So, here's hoping!!

I hope it is legit. It is a huge win!

If you are not already doing so, it would be a good idea to make copies of everything and keep a good record of names, phone numbers and conversations.

Did they send you an affidavit to get notarized?

It may not be a good idea to give out your bank account number for direct deposit. It would be safer to deposit a check.

Ok, got the call this morning. My check is in the mail. They emailed me a copy of the check and I called the bank that issued it and they said it is definitely legit. So WOOHOO!! I just won $25,000!!!

Congratulations! That is a super-awesome dream win!

Enjoy! I saw your post in the Winner's Circle - have fun furniture shopping and have a great vacation!!

So what was the final outcome? Did your check clear? I'm curious since 123 Click Inc. doesn't have a stellar reputation. Hope you had a lot of fun spending it!
