Lots of General Questions - Forum Use, Blog/Pinterest/Twitter how-to, and "Sharing"

Hello--Is someone willing to point me to the links that will answer my general questions?

The most important one is probably "how do I successfully use the forum?". This is the only forum I'm on and I've just been winging it and I don't want to keep asking everyone questions that are answered elsewhere or not follow proper etiquette. I've obviously figured out how to post and reply, but don't know about stickies or how to tell which things I've read or when someone has replied to a post of mine, etc. I need "Forums for Dummies" please.

Also, where can I learn more about blog contests? I've entered lots of them, but I don't understand things that are mentioned with regard to blogs. RSS feeds vs. newsletter subscriptions, "following", and I really don't understand what happens when I log in to enter--what am I logging into exactly?

I'd also like to learn a bit more about entering Pinterest and Twitter contests. Again, I've tried a few but I don't really know if I am doing them right.

Another question I've had for a while is when you enter a contest and can share something to your FB timeline for extra entries (or pin something on Pinterest for that matter), can you select the option to only have it visible to yourself (or pinned on a secret board) and still get credit for "sharing" or must your sharing be public?? I don't really want to bombard my friends with postings that are irrelevant to them, and I don't want to waste time sharing for entries if they will not count.

Thank you so much everyone--I hope I'm putting this in the most appropriate place.

Bonnie :)

Forums - how to tell which things you've read or when someone has replied to a post of yours: you will see {until you clear your HISTORY} that any thread you start/post in {your SUBSCRIBED THREADS} will be a lighter color ie: un-hilighted when you look in each forum.

Stickies {Stickied Threads} are usually info only. If they are *not* locked, you may post to them if you wish, but it's better to start a new thread, especially if it's for info you will refer to again.

I can tell you that twitter and pinterest contests are the most variable of all sweeps. Most other sweeps you fill out the form and click enter...but each twitter thing has different rules. One wants you to re-tweet another wants you to do something else, and sometimes it's hard to find the rules. And sometimes even when you find them they don't make sense. I keep entering anyway. You just have to find the rules and try to make sure you do everything it says.
