Lost Prize

I don't know if this is OK to post here or where I should post it. I won a prize. A book I really wanted signed and everything. Anyhow , all I received was an empty envelop that was ripped and stamped in red that it arrived with contents missing. Should I accept this as a loss and send a thank you note. Or can I send them the envelope and hopefully they will send a new copy. Maybe that would be rude? What would you guys do?
 
If it were me, I would contact the sponsors of the sweepstakes via email or fb or twitter and let them know what happened. They may be willing to send it again.
 
I would file a claim with the carrier, or post office, whichever was responsible. They lost it, let them deal with it.

This forum works - it's just when SA'ers post a thread *other* than "I was notified/I got a win" in the winners circle that we mods have to move it to the General Sweepstakes Talk or to the Questions & Answers forum - depends on the context.

Definitely notify the sponsor krisalone - they paid for a service they did NOT receive & they'll likely be grateful to know that! Especially if it was insured!

Hopefully the sponsor will be able to replace the win, but since it was signed, be prepared to get nothing or an equivalent prize.
