We have to come up with our annual 4~H demo for next Friday and I can't think of anything to do. We have done 'How to make a bird feeder', and 'How to make a lava lamp', and there was another one with static electricity and rice krispies that I can't remember the title of, but I am just totally out of ideas. It has to be something that is easy to do for her and easy to demo and CHEAP. Anyone got a clue?

I am ready for her to submit 'how to drive Momma crazy!' ~ she would get an 'A+' for sure :crazytongue:

I'll have to look through all of those and let Ashelyn look. They might be too 'young' ~ lol. She is such a diva...

Some of the paper ones did look pretty simple, which should make them easy to present. Does Ashelyn actually have to stand in front of people and explain her project? The can one is a little more grown up since it is supposed to spark a discussion on kinetic energy. It's also pretty easy to make. Here's another website's version of the same thing:

I always liked pouring liquid nitrogen out on the floor and listening to everyone scream as it hit the metal chair legs....no, that would mean jail time these days....:error:

Yes ~ she has to be able to demo it in front of the class in 3-5 minutes so it has to be something she can remember ~ lol! Plus we have to make the dreaded poster board  :cussing:

What about a cool demo of the solar system? That isn't too tough and can be really cheap--just styrofoam balls of different size and wires of different length. And paint.

That would work, but she has to be able to make it and put it together in less than 5 minutes. If she could paint it before hand she might could get away with it, but they won't let them bring in anything pre-assembled. I hate these things...4-H is for 4th graders and she is in 6th...why can't they just let it go already?

Tell her to get a VERY pregnant cow and bring it in, then let it give birth. Not much to put together, and defiantly grown up enough. OK I am sorry, tobby1 is feeling her oats today. bored and no one to pester, so you guys get it. Sorry  :nono: :crazytongue:

Everything I know how to do either causes a massive explosion or hysteria. Remind me not to tell you what I did to the toilets in sixth grade...

You know, I could actually do this ~ lol! Jimmie's Dad has a cow that is ready to give birth...that may be the end of live demos at school also...it would be a win/win situation for me!

See I am just trying to think ahead and plan for the future, plus think of all the screaming kids running from the room. When it comes time for the actual birth I am sure you could scare out a few of those little brats.

And red if you did what I did as a kid to the toilet, it involved a cherry bomb or three . ummm I will say no more.

Uh, don't listen to freaky woman here. :crazytongue: She's a danger to herself and anyone around her. Where does one go to purchase liquid nitrogen? Certainly not at your local grocery or hardware store.

How about making a bat shelter? They are easy to construct and provide valuable shelter for our little leathery-winged, nocturnal friends. :)

We have several bat houses on our property...including the very big empty one next door...I love to watch the bats come out and eat in the evenings during the summer...

Between this piece of information and Tracey's tree that I like I am really beginning to wonder if I missed my calling to ride a broom...

 can that be put together and demonstrated in 3-5 minutes in front of a large group of people  jk  the broom part :crazytongue:

I thought you meant riding one...sometimes I think she can also...

You know...we do have broom sage growing beside our house...that might not be a bad idea Lee...

I just got an email from Michaels craft store--the Knack--and they have a demonstration at our store today about easy and fun science projects. Not sure if there is a Michael's near you, but you might want to check it out! Maybe they are doing it at lots of different stores.
