I need to vent.

In my opinion it would be to the benefit of the sweepstakes "SPONSOR" to KEEP IT SIMPLE ST_P_D. Feel Free to fill in the vowels.

However I'm sure they are swayed by the Sweepstakes "Administrator" to keep it difficult and complicated, cuz the administrator would earn more money to make it complicated or "creative' and "memorable" as they may say to the "SPONSOR". Heck they may even be going after the TOP ADVERTISER or TOP COMMERCIAL award as judged by their peers in the Conglomerate Corporate Commercial Industry sense.

I see everything getting more complicated with the Widget entry showing up more and more now or websites demanding accessing events, viewing of videos, reading of articles, answering Survey Questions, on their website to earn POINTS to be able to enter. This is in addition to my other complaints already listed under 'SICK OF IT ALL" paragraph, under the Chat About Anything Forum. I will not totally boycott the WIDGET/Points sweepstakes, but will LIMIT their demands of me.

I am also FEELING a definite suttle steering by non Face Book websites to defer visitors to use Face Book for login to sweeps. Gives them more access to personal information, maybe?

Eventually every other website will (if they have not already) defer to the FACE BOOK LOGIN - less passwords for users to remember, but also easy for hackers. My sense is if they already defer to Face Book login they will transform from their existing non Face Book website to a FACE BOOK website. The "skeleton" website has already been formatted for them by FB. Eventually as technology advances we may all login via Retina identification, to heck with passwords!

I'm also thinking the websites need to maintain and/or justify their existence and LEARN everything about everybody! Increase the number of hits or user time spent on the website for example. Is this the reason for the evolution to the use of Widgets/Points/Survey trend?

Progress ?? Do 'WE' as sweepstakers have any say into the direction sweepstakes are trending?

I believe we do. Choice. Choose to enter or not to enter.

Thank you for your time, in reading this. I feel better now :)

For those wondering:

I almost just merged them, since this is an expansion of your thoughts on this zoom, but I figured you posted a new thread to get more eyeballs.

I bring that up, because that is what sweeping is all about - getting people to see your product/service, and hopefully, to buy it.

Some sponsors use a JA {eprize, etal} instead of running it themselves, and since FB is all the rage now, that's the platform most use. Smaller sponsors use it because they can easily create a promo.

The legalese is in response to litigious types/State & Federal law. The numerous steps/complexity is what they use to make their product/service stand out - that's why so many regular sweeps are daily entry too.

When I started sweeping online, I entered just about everything. I later became more discerning, and to this day, I steer clear of blogs.

I also caught myself entering IW's that I would have passed on by if they weren't IW's, so I have few I enter, but when I do win, it's usually a decent prize.

Anyway, I remember the days of inky & janky, and while I knew FB would stick, the jury is still out on other platforms.

There still are some that are simple to enter, just fewer than in the past.

Unless you read the privacy policy on every promo, there is no way to know if your info will only be used by the sponsor, or if they will share it or not - with FB, widget, etc. they flat out tell you they will!

Besides, once you just sign up with FB, the horse is out of the barn - privacy is a 4 letter word to them!

I keep it simple for myself:
(1) I have to honestly like the prizes. and,
(2) If they make it stupidly difficult to participate, I will shun them... not visit their site, not jump through all their hoops.
