Is this the future of Sweeps?

I am not so sure I like the way Sweepstakes are heading. First it was the Caffeine sweeps, every sweep the same and very few prizes in those. Then it was the Classic Heartland Sweeps, Every sweep is the same and few prizes and now the Shuffle sweeps. 3 yesterday and 4 more today and all the same and only 2 prizes a week!

We are know the sweepstakes world has far too many sweepers and not enough prizes. It gets a little worse every year. I would like your feedback on this. I find myself entering more and winning less and I am actually quite lucky so I can imagine how some of you must feel.

The caffeine sweeps have been a little bit of a pain. I have entered every instant win consistantly every day and have not hit one yet. However, my husband only played two and won one of them. Also, my brand new sweep email addy is now filled with spam and I guess from reading other's comments it is probably from one or more of the caffeine's.

I am also entering more sweeps and winning less, but I think it is because there are a lot more new people starting to enter sweepstakes. But, I still enjoy sweeping and every once in awhile I win something really nice that makes entering so much worthwhile. :smt001

a lot of the sweeps now are trying to get smaller vendors into the sweep world and caffeine sweeps was the start, otherwise those companies could not front the prizes. As far as the Classic Heartland Sweeps that is just the way they are trying to promote by having a variety of things to play for and offer more prizes in a selective form rather than grouping them into one and having a person not wanting a prize they weren't trying to win.

sugarplum7 - I've been entering online just over 3 years now, and have seen posts like this since the beginning. I believe (from what you posted) that like me, you got used to having multiple wins - albeit mostly small ones, but occasionally some good ones in there :smt002

Anywho, I think it comes and goes in waves - and seems seasonal - right now, there are many offering small prizes, BUT, there are FEW prizes, instead of the hundreds/thousands we were used to, so it reduces our chances to hit as frequently.

I would have to look back over 3 years of calendars to make sure, but I do believe this is a "dry" period and soon there will be more good ones. Until then? I just enter & forget it :smt002

Thanks Amy and I hope you are right. It is a little discouraging to see sweeps that offer two wins a week or one win a month. It just seems to me that the prizes are not as nice as they used to be or as plentiful.

sugarplum7 - I so hear ya!!! :smt005

BUT - so many times, I couldn't hit when there were hundreds/thousands of prizes (that darn KRAFT is the most recent :smt019 :smt002 :smt003 ) and everyone would be posting their wins DAILY :smt010 but I'd hit something else off the wall - like one with 200 or less prizes offered - so I've learned to just go with the flow :smt003

Hang in there - tomorrow opens up new opportunities!!! I'm rooting for you to get your timing back and nail a BIGGIE!!! :smt004 :smt004 :smt004

I have only been sweeping about a year (May 30, 2006), so my "theory" is shaky, to say the least. But.....

I've seen many less prizes won during the first part of this year (late January to this date), and smaller prizes, too. But, during the last part of last year (Sept. to Dec.), many more prizes were won, and big prizes, too. I won about one time a month during Sept. to Dec. - mostly $100 in the instant wins, a couple of $300 and $500 prizes, too.

I wonder if it doesn't make sense that, as the calendar year runs out, the marketing budget runs out, too, and they put more sweepstakes and contests into the mix?

Does anybody have research to go along with that "theory," or am I all wet? (It wouldn't be the first time! :smt043 )

I am confused about the "2 a week" prizes. Are all the entries rolled over or are previous entries discarded every week?

: Is this the future of Sweeps?

I, personally, don't see any problem. Classic Heartland and Caffeine are so quick and easy to enter. Plus, instead of only one or two sweeps with more prizes, they run many sweeps with one or a few prizes which works out to be about the same.

I've won many sweeps with only one prize, and I haven't seen any decrease in what we win. So, I don't give it a second thought.

Hi Folks,

Just wanted to chime in. Having shipped many prizes and ran many sweepstakes and giveaways on SA it never ceases to amaze me how members forfeit their wins because they did not respond in time to claim their prize.

I think this is 97% due to our claim email getting lost in their spam folder. For anyone who is serious about the sweepstakes entry hobby you should become very acquainted with how your spam blocking software works. Add domains to your white list that you know are not spammers so that you will get that winning email!

Now I understand that this is by no means a guarantee that you will win but it does increase your odds of winning.

My second thought is that you should spread your entries around. If you are not winning with one sponsor try some others. Looking at the "hits" stats for each listing on SA I can tell that people are very selective about what they enter. While its OK to be selective it will decrease your overall chances of winning.

Good Luck and God Bless.

Hey, sweepsadv - good stuff to know!

I do look at my yahoo! Bulk Mail list most of the time, and I have found things on there that belong in my Inbox, so I click on these, and tell yahoo! that it's "Not Spam." But, what is a "white list?"

Thank you, sweepsadv!

White List is usually the term used to describe a list that is kept by your spam software to always allow sites on this list for email delivery. It is sometimes called different names with different spam blocking programs.

Telling yahoo that this email address is not a spammer or adding that email address to your address book will create your own white list.

One more note... Checking your email at least every 48 hours is highly recommended. If you only check 1x per week your probably waiting too long. :smt002

Hi ya'll :smt006
Quick question...I :smI've had ALOT more spam in my inbox but I thought it was coming from classicheartland (which I stopped doing)..now someone says maybe caffine, I've won about 3xs on that one so I probably won't stop. What do you think? :smt014

: Is this the future of Sweeps?

I enter both of those and about 80 other sweeps with no spam? I keep my list small with a bigger list it is hard to pinpoint the origin of spam!

: Is this the future of Sweeps?

I get alot of spam but most of its those uk lottery things. I havent got any spam from heartland or caffeine. I just subscribe to everything under the sun. :smt009

: Is this the future of Sweeps?

I feel like I did not get the answer I was looking for. There seems to be an awful lot of instant sweepstakes now that give away one prize a day, week or month (like 300 prizes - one a day for 300 days). Are the non-winning entries rolled over day to day, or do they discard these entries and choose only the new entries for the new day? If this is what they do, then, to me, it would be like entering a "one-time only" contest each day for 300 days. Hope I made myself clear.

: Is this the future of Sweeps?

Every time you enter, you are getting more entries into the entire sweepstakes. At the end, when it's time for drawing a winner, all your entries are pooled in there.
