I just got a notification today in an unmarked envelope (first clue!) from Global Logistics Inc saying I had won $250,000. Enclosed was a check from Clemco Group Inc for $3985 which was supposed to be used to pay taxes through Moneygram. I was instantly wary because I usually don't enter lotteries, and because in the back of my mind I seem to remember hearing about a scam where the person is sent a check and is supposed to wire tax money, then after they send the money the check bounces and they are left holding the bag. Also, generally you don't wire tax money--you get a W-9 form and Uncle Sam takes it directly! Has anyone else received anything like this?
