Sorry my newness showed.I posted this in the welcome topic board as well. But the question remains to I have to use a real phone #, if I win wont they either mail the prize or email me a notification? I dont want my phone ringing off the hook.I appreciate the help in advance.

As I understand it, you should provide true, accurate information.

Some entry forms which require phone numbers have a note in parenthesis to say that the number will be used only to contact the winners and will not be shared with third parties, for example. You could check the rules to see if the phone number would be used for marketing purposes.

I have been contacted by phone a handful of times for wins, and I would not want to have missed those particular wins.

I have been contacted by phone only once for marketing, that I remember. It was from one company, but several times (I did not answer). If I had read the comments SA members posted under this particular sweeps, I would have seen that it was one known to call and annoy people, and I would not have entered. So, always try to read the comments before you enter. Our members are great and share info and warnings, both from their experience and from having read the rules.

For most sweeps, it is okay to give your phone number, and you will only be contacted if you win. Again, check the rules and comments.

It is always in your best interest to provide the correct number. A lot of companies actually pull up your address to verify with your phone number.

I use a real number.

I use a prepaid cell phone for my contests.

90% of the time when that phone rings it is a WINNING call.

Either local contests or the larger online sweeps. "Sunny D is one example for me"

I also use it for texting.

And having the 2nd phone gives me a upper hand for radio contests.

My first (and only so far) win was a Jamaica trip. They only contacted me by phone. It wasn't until it was time to start booking did the travel agency get a hold of me via e-mail.

I have always put my phone number on swepstakes as I want to be able for the sponsor to be able to contact me, but I did want to say in the last 6 months I have only had 2 phone calls and only one of them is what I consider to be spam. Just felt like this was important to add to this message.

I received a call from The Ellen Show yesterday, informing me that I had won one of their sweeps. I think that I have also received a call for two of my other big wins.

I always use my real phone number, and in the last 3 years I have only received a handful of calls trying to sell me something as a result of my sweeps entries. I also make sure to check/uncheck the boxes asking if I want someone to contact me or send me info, so I think that helps.
