Irritating.....

This will seem small in light of the world economy problems, but it really ticks me off anyway.....I do my share of selling on ebay --mostly my daughters old clothes and misc household items, but sometimes list things won in sweeps that either I cant use or , in the case of this round of listings, things that I could really use the cash for to buy Christmas presents instead. Anyway, Ive sold gift cards on there before, no problems, but apparently since the last time I listed GCs, they have added all these new "rules" to what and how you can list gcs----ie..cant be worth more than $500 (not sure why?) cant list more than 1 gc per week (?!) and cant list more than one gc in a single listing (no "bundling" all those misc gcs to sell) Well, that had kind of been my intention since I have three or four small amount gcs and thought it might be good to just list them as a "grab bag" of gc that someone might be interested in, but clearly I cant do that. But here is what kind of irked me....I had two $10 Party America gcs that I cant use because there isnt a store near me, and I thought "well, they are to the same store, so it isnt a 'variety' of cards, so I should just be able to list it as a $20 gc to Party America, and just explain in the listing that its for 2 $10 cards......" Nope. Tried that and was notified by ebay that my listing was removed because it violated policies. I realize I dont make the rules and maybe I just dont understand the reason behind it, but I think its ridiculous......is it just because ebay makes more money this way, or am I missing something?
Thanks for letting me vent.......be looking for my "grab bag " offer in the FSOT area I guess...Ill be darned if Im gonna take the time to list dinky cards separately on ebay.

I know how frustrating it is to figure out their rules too. I had a $25 Omaha Steaks gift code that I wanted to sell but was told I violated their rules for electronic delivery items. ???? They said I was supposed to list it under the want ads or some crazy thing like that. I wrote them back and asked them to clarify the rules because from what I understood they were basically telling me that they thought I had a coupon code that could be sold over and over again. I explained to them in my letter that it was a one time use code and that the category made no sense. I also asked them what happened to the gift code category because it wasn't an option any more and would have made the whole situation unnecessary. Their reply was to not reply.

It's obvious to me that more and more lately their bottom line means more than the people who helped build them. Fee increases, ridiculous changes in feed back and listings just makes it harder for me to consider them as an option any longer. And this:

In Australia, the company is testing a program that requires sellers to accept only PayPal payments. Mr. Donahoe said that if the test was successful, the company would introduce it in other countries “in months, not years.”

This is just flat out monopolizing the sellers. For my part, I'm done with Ebay. But good luck to anyone who uses them. I hope things get better.

I actually like the idea of just using PayPal for transactions. We stopped using eBay long ago when people started selling any junk they could find laying around the house. I've been appalled by what they had allowed people to sell in the past, like coupons. After my last experience where my purchase was mailed out in its own packaging and not properly boxed and arrived damaged, that was the last straw; and the seller didn't even try to make amends. Not to mention, our account getting hacked twice.

Hopefully, this new guy gets it back up on its feet again and all the problems straightened out. Unfortunately, that means not being able to please everybody.

Oh, and let's not forget the mother of all frauds, the winning bid, $2M+, on the "General Lee" where the proceeds were going to charity; and the bidder didn't even turn out to be legit.

i sell on ebay as well i had a few of my listings removed that were posted before the new rules had been added very annoying i agree
