IP address must match physical address?

Hi!

Do ya'll think it matters if my IP address is not the same as the address I enter in my sweeps? I live in Arizona but I use my Mom's home address in Wisconsin to enter sweeps. I do this because my living situation is very temporary and I want to use a stable address for sweepstakes deliveries.
I'm wondering if this will disqualify me for some reason.. any thoughts? Thanks!

rebekahvioletsunshine - with IP masking, Library entering, and now Ipad/mobile device entry, sponsors/JA's are probably more concerned that your physical address is real, and that entry limits are observed.

I would think the biggest problem you might have is explaining why your drivers lic. doesn't match the address you gave if you win something big. Or if you won the dream house and they showed up in a different state to wait for you to show up so they can surprise you.

Oh yeah - if an affy is mailed to your moms house with a short turn around time {72 hrs} you'd lose out

My 1st response was to the aspect of entering, in response to your address not matching your IP, but the more I think about this, the more I think of issues that will probably arise if you do win.

There are whole websites devoted to "gaming the system" so savvy sponsors/JA's have developed ways of weeding out cheaters - like using captchas and/or FLASH forms to thwart programs {bots} that enter *for* someone.

And while some sponsors/JA's *do* track IP's, it's mostly to prevent multiple entry - I've never heard of any flagging for addresses not matching while entering.

I'd stick to small promos, that don't require an affy {affidavit} that contact winners by phone/email until you get settled.

Lol!If I get a 72 hour affy, I would just jump on a plane to Wisconsin! I don't see why that is not possible! My driver's license is still from Wisconsin and I won't be changing it until Next November.. so that's not a problem yet either.

Thanks so much for your help!

OK then, if you can do it, go for it!

Just make sure you let them know ASAP about your residency issues, so you don't get let down JIC they decide to DQ you for it. Like if a promo was open to limited states, and Wisc. was on the list, but where you are wasn't - that they'd DQ you for!
