Instant Wins

What time do you usually enter your sweepstakes?

I do all mine in the morning around 8am. I'm just wondering if this is a bad idea. If most people enter the contests in the morning when I do then the odds of winning a contests that gives a win based on a random time would be lower right? Playing at a time when less people enter is ideal because if the winning time is 8:01am and you have tons of people doing it around that time your window is basically the winning time exactly. But if the winning time is 3:00am, the odds are higher you could still win if you enter at 3:30am because way less people are entering around that hour.

ALSO:

There is no secret! It just takes persistence, patience and consistency to win. Unless you were entering sweeps somewhere else before you joined SA you really haven't been at it long enough to see wins yet. Although I don't know which sweeps you have been entering, you must consider a few things. 1) Probably a lot of what you have entered have not ended yet. You can't win until the sweeps is over. 2) Even if some of the sweeps have ended it somethings takes weeks and somethings a month or more until winner(s) are chosen. 3) After a sweeps has ended and the winner(s) chosen it is sometimes another few weeks or a month or more until the winner(s) are notified. Just hang in there! You will win but you must give it time. And speaking of time, the IW sweeps are strictly a matter of timing. Sometimes winners are not notified, the prize just shows up at your door or in your mail box. There have been a few new sweepers that have thought checking off the sweeps check box next to the sweeps listing would enter them ... nope! You must click on the link and fill out the entry form. (I only mention this because I would hate for you to think your were entering something you weren't). But really, you WILL win! Honest!!! you will you will you will .... good luck!

dexterlecter9, lets ignore the competition for awhile and look just at the sweep.

Games are for entertainment purposes only and have no bearing on the winning times. I always avoid them if I can.

A sweep must have winning times equal to the prizes being given away. No more, and no less. The potential winning times are randomly seeded through the term of the sweep. If the sweep is to run for 30 days and has 30 prizes then there will be 30 winning times. The winning time could be based on seconds, but usually it's minutes. There are 1,440 minutes in a 24 HR day x 30 days gives 43,200 “potential” winning times in 30 day sweep. Random means random, so any combination that equals 30 is possible. You could have one per day (unlikely), 30 winning times all on one day (highly unlikely) or any combination that results in 30 winning times over the term of the sweep. You could have have x number of days with one or more winning times followed by x number of days days with no winning times at all. If there is a winning time on a specific day, it will be randomly seeded over a 24 Hr period. If you're entering at 8 AM and the winning time is 10:15 AM, you're out of luck, 'cause it's the first person to enter on or after the winning time will get the win.

If the number of prizes is only 10 on a 30 day sweep, then there are only 10 times out of 43,200 “potential” winning times when you can win. The fewer the prizes, the fewer the winning times.

Live on the west coast? Then 8 AM for you is 11 AM for the east coast and thousands of people have already been entering. Most sweeps are set to run on Eastern Time, though a few use another time zone.

Finally, entry competition is a factor only if it occurs when there is a winning time. If there are 10,000 people entering a sweep and you and they all enter between 8 AM and 8:30 AM, the entry time is immaterial if there’s no winning time that day, or it’s later in the day.

If the times are truly random, then there should be as many winning times in the early morning when people are sleeping as there are at some other time of day. I would concentrate my entries there if I were able, as there are fewer entrants. I suspect that Midnight to 6 AM Eastern Time is probably the best as far as competition is concerned – remember time zones, that would be 9 PM to 3AM Pacific Time.

There are always exceptions and I meant to speak in generalities, so there are probably some exceptions to my comments.

If you figure out a “system” to locate the winning times, let me know will ya?
