dexterlecter9, lets ignore the competition for awhile and look just at the sweep.
Games are for entertainment purposes only and have no bearing on the winning times. I always avoid them if I can.
A sweep must have winning times equal to the prizes being given away. No more, and no less. The potential winning times are randomly seeded through the term of the sweep. If the sweep is to run for 30 days and has 30 prizes then there will be 30 winning times. The winning time could be based on seconds, but usually it's minutes. There are 1,440 minutes in a 24 HR day x 30 days gives 43,200 “potential” winning times in 30 day sweep. Random means random, so any combination that equals 30 is possible. You could have one per day (unlikely), 30 winning times all on one day (highly unlikely) or any combination that results in 30 winning times over the term of the sweep. You could have have x number of days with one or more winning times followed by x number of days days with no winning times at all. If there is a winning time on a specific day, it will be randomly seeded over a 24 Hr period. If you're entering at 8 AM and the winning time is 10:15 AM, you're out of luck, 'cause it's the first person to enter on or after the winning time will get the win.
If the number of prizes is only 10 on a 30 day sweep, then there are only 10 times out of 43,200 “potential” winning times when you can win. The fewer the prizes, the fewer the winning times.
Live on the west coast? Then 8 AM for you is 11 AM for the east coast and thousands of people have already been entering. Most sweeps are set to run on Eastern Time, though a few use another time zone.
Finally, entry competition is a factor only if it occurs when there is a winning time. If there are 10,000 people entering a sweep and you and they all enter between 8 AM and 8:30 AM, the entry time is immaterial if there’s no winning time that day, or it’s later in the day.
If the times are truly random, then there should be as many winning times in the early morning when people are sleeping as there are at some other time of day. I would concentrate my entries there if I were able, as there are fewer entrants. I suspect that Midnight to 6 AM Eastern Time is probably the best as far as competition is concerned – remember time zones, that would be 9 PM to 3AM Pacific Time.
There are always exceptions and I meant to speak in generalities, so there are probably some exceptions to my comments.
If you figure out a “system” to locate the winning times, let me know will ya?
