I'm sure this Question has been asked a dozen times!!

We are putting our house on the market right after Easter..of course, I have no idea how long it will take to sell. Is it a good idea to start using my mom's address for prizes since I have heard UPS and Fed Ex won't forward them over? If so, should I do that right away or wait til we are under contract? But say, you win a big prize..affy is sent to my mom's address, but I am still here at that time and the affy needs to be notarized, plus Driver's license and W-9(which I just did all this for a TV win). Will that go against official rules(most of the time)

In my opinion, the way this country is mobile, (most people move at least every 7 years), as long as your mom's address meets all the critera of the sweeps, ie: a state it is allowed in etc., I would start using the address immediately. Some of the sweeps you are entering may not end at a good time for you to change your address when you go into contract since then you would only have 30 - 60 days and sweeps that ended shortly before you go into contract may not try to notify you until after you have moved. Good luck in selling your home and win win win!!!

The vast majority of my prizes found me after our move (and almost a year later, I had one show up last week that was forwarded from my old address). I'd hold off on using a new address until you know for certain what your new address will be. Also, if you haven't already, sign up for UPS Alerts... then you can at least dictate forwarding of UPS packages through them. Still nothing similar for FedEx, but you'll have postal and UPS covered for forwarding.

But, if mom's address is where your moving to, by all means start using it.

That's funny, I'm in the same situation. I already have an offer that I think I will be accepting. I'm going to leave my cell phone number with the new owner and ask them to please call if anything arrives since I won't be living too far away.

My hub's co-worker put his house on the market and it sold in less than a week.He wasn't prepared to vacate this soon..I guess he's got 30 days but definately start ENTERING sweeps using your mom's address or else you might get shorted on any prizes you may win.

While they won't foward packages, if you have tracking you can change the address online (for a fee) or have the package held at the office. I've done it before when I moved.
