I noticed most of the winners are the pay members - update megamoo WON!!!

megamoo

New member
I noticed that most of the winners are the people who are in high standings with SA. Some of us can not afford to pay for a membership but could benefit from the extra help. I have spent just about every extra second I have filling out entries and after realizing that the ones winning have extra advantages, I feel like Im wasting my time. I keep filling entries out because I am determined to win something but I am quickly loosing my faith in this entire process.......

Re: I noticed most of the winners are the pay members

Don't get discouraged. Sweeping takes time and perseverance. I really want to be a plus member, but I am not, and I have won a lot of stuff over the years (Spending zero dollars!). Remember that when you first start entering, the sweeps may not close for many months--therefore your win, may not come to you for a very long time. About 6 months after I started, I began getting hit with tons of wins. Have fun with your hobby. Like many on here I always say--enter and then forget about it. The mailman will become your best friend. Good luck to you!

Re: I noticed most of the winners are the pay members

The sponsers of the sweepstakes have no way of knowing, nor do they care if people are sweepstakes plus members here at SA. The drawing are random. Plus member and SA members see all the same sweeps and can choose from them which to enter. What a Plus membership does for a person is organization of the sweeps we choose to enter ... it does not put a * next to our names letting sponsers know we pay money for our membership. Whether a person is a regular SA member or a Plus member it still comes down to consistancy, persistance and just plain luck. Don't give up just because you don't have the extra funds to buy a plus membership! And remember, not everyone posts their wins. It may be that Plus members are more active in the forums so it seems like most of the winners are Plus members. There are plenty of winners that don't, for whatever reason, post their wins. You have as much chance to winning as everyone else does as long as you are entered in the sweeps! It is all a matter of timing and luck, not how well you organize your sweeps! I do feel that having plus gives me the opportunity to enter more sweeps due to the way I can organize them but I won my biggest prize before I started using Plus. Hang in there .... you have as much chance as anyone! :headbang:

Re: I noticed most of the winners are the pay members

I win quite a bit (though nothing very BIG yet...LOL) and I am not a paying member (yet). :) GL!

Re: I noticed most of the winners are the pay members

I just won a trip worth almost 12 grand that I had to turn down and I'm not a paying member. Like my fellow Sa'ers have said it does take time and it all has to do with luck. It also depends on what type of sweeps you are entering and how many people are entering them too. I have won many awesome prizes on here, but then again I am happy with the small stuff too. Everyone on here goes through a drought where you won't win for awhile but then it picks up again too. I think the holidays are the best time for sweeps, lots of great prizes and lots of sweeps. This is the best site for sweeping as a hobby. I like it better than playing the lottery :) Hang in there, even though the contest may be over it could take the sponsor several months to notify a winner or you may get a surprise in the mail :)

As has been said, PLUS doesn't give you an advantage in winning with the Sponsors/JA's, it gives you an advantage in organization.

Also, as previously noted, those who are PLUS tend to be more vocal in posting.

When I couldn't win, when I was sweeping every second of every day for 6 months straight, I too looked for reasons why.

Then I finally won, and the light bulb went off for me - and eventually I {along with the advice from several sweepers over time} came up with:

NOT WINNING ANYTHING? Tips on WHY:
http://www.sweepstakesplus.com/smf/not-winning-anything-tips-on-why-t63762.0.html

Specifically The Sweeper's Credo:

Enter and forget it.
Always be happy for those who win - even when they win "your" prize :crazytongue: - and be positive you will win.
Sweeping is a hobby that is all about timing. Especially for those elusive instants! IF you enter at the exact right moment, you will win.
If not? Sad to say you won't. But I assure you - it's nothing personal, and those who win a lot don't have any "secrets" - they are just consistent, persistent, and patient.

I really believe that if you go into it thinking you can't win, well, you'll MAKE yourself right so often you'll start believing it!!!

I truly do believe you have to have a positive attitude - don't get hung up on what others are doing - just focus on entering, then move on to something else - like posting so we can get to know you!!! :sunny:

So hang in there - and enter, enter, enter - and you'll be posting a win before you know it!!! And remember - every day brings new opportunities to win!!! :headbang:

Re: I noticed most of the winners are the pay members

Just wanted to add that I started sweeping in January. I gave myself till April 1st, then would cut back on time spent entering depending on how things went. I won nothing but the m&ms that everyone was winning, but I got free candy a lot already because i do alot of couponing, and it did not seem worth it. I quit for a few months , and only did locail entries (grocery stores mostly) and in the last 3 weeks have won a trip, gift cards, toys, tickets, gift bags and more. I cant speak for everyone, but if I had to guess, alot of members probley didn't start out paying, but rather upgraded after they saw wins start to roll in.

I know firsthand it is frustrating to not win, but you cant think negativly about the way it works for others. Its kinda like karma, be happy for others, stay positive, and eventually it will start. Take a break if you need to, so It stays fun- but please dont be disappointed because you cant afford the $ for the pay version. It may be helpful, but certianly not necessary. Chin up, and good luck:)

Re: I noticed most of the winners are the pay members

Please don't be discouraged - I don't have a plus membership either, but have enjoyed quite a few wins, which really didn't start until a few months after I started entering - some really small and a few really good ones (2 laptops, gift cards, etc). I haven't posted all of my wins because I felt very shy at first as a new sweeper. The same sweeps are available to everyone, it just takes persistence, and as others have said, a positive attitude. I try to check out new sweeps daily, and have my own organization method for entering contests - again daily. When I feel discouraged, it helps to read others' posts - I really enjoy seeing what they are winning. Be patient, your time will come. Good luck to you!! :sunny:

Re: I noticed most of the winners are the pay members

HI

My first month i won a dvd and a few other small items... then went on a long dry spell for over a year and a half with no wins

Then I got a e-mail from Jos A Bank Congratulating me on winning their Father's day grand prize sweepstakes of $1000... three weeks later i received a $1000 gift card

Just last week received a e-mail from Earthbound Farm Organic saying I won a Hamilton Beach Smoothie Blender

I tried the free trial for plus membership when I first started sweeping and liked the extra features to make sweeping easier and faster
it's a small price to pay to enjoy a hobby... Most hobbies you have to spend a lot of money to get started then you have a hard time to sell

oh well, got to get back to entering sweepstakes .....STILL WAITING FOR PUBLISHERS CLEARING TO RING MY DOORBELL

Re: I noticed most of the winners are the pay members

The obsessed among us tend to be the ones who stick around here the longest and post the most... and the people who tend to be the most obsessed are the ones who are entering A LOT, and the more you enter, the more you distribute your odds and the more likely you are to win.

And the more obsessed you are, the more you micro-manage, and the tools that come with PLUS allow the obsessed among us to micro-manage our sweeps.

Re: I noticed most of the winners are the pay members

Okay I have been doing sweeps since the 1970's and I am not a plus member. In fact I must be on the slow side as I used SA for years before I even joined the forum.

I enter only around 40-50 sweeps a day now but once a week or so I do 300 or 400 in a day.

I rarely post mostly just wins averaging 10 to 15 a month in wins value around $2000. I strongly suggest you keep entering with SA.

lol Bruce - I must be slow too, since I spent my 1st 6 months in the comments, thinking the forums were just winners posts :crazytongue:

That was at another site, which DOES hide the "good" sweeps for just the paying members :nono:

Ken chose to keep SA free for years, relying on ads to keep the site afloat, then the great recession hit.

Instead of closing down the site, Ken chose to create tools for us serious, hard core sweepers, and ask for $30 a year in return. Win-win!!! :headbang:

Ken still kept access to the sweeps free, and some of the tools too, so *everyone* who sweeps has a chance to win, as you just proved!!! :sunny:

Re: I noticed most of the winners are the pay members

Thank you to everyone for the advice and encouragement! I do love seeing everyone elses wins posted and I am very happy for those who win. My husband thinks I'm crazy, but I keep telling him that eventually I will win something. lol. I only enter things I'm interested in (that usually keeps me busy for hours). I'm still trying to figure out some of the features on here like the "my sweeps" because I keep pressing it and it isn't saving my list for me but I will eventually get the hang of it. :headbang:

You need to make sure you are logged in, then make sure you do NOT have SA popups blocked to save sweeps - either by refreshing the page or by clicking Save My Sweepstakes

Congrats, megamoo! If you continue to enter consistently, you will win again...

not so, I am not a + member but have won a lot, even a new vehicle, be persistent and enter as much as you can, you will win. Although I will be a plus member as soon as I win a cash prize that gives me the opportunity.
