how to sell items

I have a gift card I would like to sell but I don't know the method for getting the money and giving the card. I've thought about it and I can't figure out how to get the card to the buyer and get the money from the buyer so neither gets cheated.

Usually the buyer will pay you immediately thru paypal and you mail the card.Or if a trade is agreed upon, both parties mail their wares..address are exchanged via email.I've never been cheated on this site.Or you can go to cardpool.com and see what they offer you.

bwanas turned me onto cardpool.com and its so easy its sickening. They give you an offer right then and there and your money comes within a week or if you choose Amazon even faster.Haven't even tried plasticjungle.I try to post here first in case someone is looking for what I have, and maybe they have what I want. Sometimes an even trade can be made.Like maybe someone has a Justice $25 card that wants my $25 New York & Co.Then it works out for both parties. If I don't sell/trade it in a week,I go to cardpool.com.They offer you less than what your card is,but go by rate of popularity.I got $42 cash(check) for a $50 Southwest and $44.10 in Amazon for the other $50 Southwest.I was only asking $60 for both on here and only got offered $50 for both. So,by going thru cardpool.com I got $86.10 for $100 in SW cards. They give you free shipping labels to print out and attach to an envelope too. Can't beat that!

TY kcharlton!

I am doing some spring cleaning and found a bunch of cards - most $25 and up, which is all plastic jungle will take - I'm thinking of doing a members contest for the lower cards

geez! Next spring you call me and ILL come clean your house..lol! As long as the cards have a pin, cardpool will do an online electronic transaction where you don't even have to mail the cards..how's THAT for cool? They just mail you a check! I was going to do a members sweep for the IPOD Shuffles I won when I get them but have no clue how.Maybe you can help me with that when I get them?

lol - I figure I have about $800 for face value, not counting the under $25 cards :crazytongue:

Running a members contest is easy - you set the rules, and can have them post, answer trivia, whatever you want.

I write down the post #'s on a bit of paper and have my cat pick one out by shaking them up in a bag, and that is the winner!

Why don't you post some of the cards you have? I might even be interested...maybe others will, too. Now we are all curious!! LOL on your sweeps! I'll still need your help when the time comes, tho.Come on Amy..let's see what you've been hiding from us all..post some cards!!

That's an awesome list!!! I might want the Champs for my son...gotta wait to get paid from my pet=sitting job, tho(next week) It's Champs Sports, right?

Yep - I updated it :crazytongue:

btw - I have 4 not 3 of the $100 Oriental Trading, so almost $800 was right :crazytongue:

I would like to FSOT an XBOX 360 (Fifa Soccer 13) game. Can something other than GC or codes be sold through this site? Can transactions be done through the mail, or is it best to get PayPal? Game is still in original package. ARV is $60.00.
Thank you.

Gift cards that are sold and need to be sent through the mail should be handled with special attention. Any item needs this attention really.

Always go inside of the postal office and have the mail weighed for proper postage and sent with tracking information.

Never toss them in a blue postal box or regular outgoing mail slot to be mixed with regular mail.

Gift cards can get caught in normal mail machine rollers, destroyed and ultimately tossed according to USPS.

Always take a photograph of the gift card, and write down the gift card number, pin, any and all information to help track the gift card if it should become lost in the mail.

Have the seller provide the numbers on the gift card to you prior to mailing so if they do go missing at least you can use the cards online and it's not a total loss (unless someone has beat you to it, duh!)

Keep receipts if the gift card was purchased to help put a stop on the card if it is missing.

Keep toll free numbers, and any information if the card was won prior to the sale to help contact the issuer if lost or stolen.

Pay the seller only after you have received the gift cards in the mail or only after it has been proven to you with tracking that the cards have been mailed.

If you buy something from someone using their PayPal email and "send money to a friend", you have no guarantee to get your money refunded. A friend is not a seller.
A person with a PayPal account and email is not a seller. You did not buy anything. You sent money to someone. To PayPal it is a personal payment.

Sending money to someone's PayPal account using their email is not a transaction that PayPal will help you with if you do not receive an item that you paid for.

You can not dispute or file a claim. You will lose your money unless the person you sent the money to decides to refund you for the good faith trade that failed.

From PayPal's site:

Payments for the following are not eligible for reimbursement under PayPal Purchase Protection:
Real estate, including residential property
Businesses
Vehicles, including motor vehicles, motorcycles, caravans, aircraft and boats
Significantly Not As Described claims on custom-made items
Items prohibited by the PayPal Acceptable Use Policy
Industrial machinery used in manufacturing
Items equivalent to cash, including prepaid or gift cards
PayPal Direct Payments
Virtual Terminal Payments
Personal Payments

If you send money to someone using their PayPal email address, you have no protection if the trade or sale fails.

Hopefully the seller will honor the sale or trade and refund your money but you have to wait for them to do this and that might take time or not happen at all if the seller does not issue refund.

Even a seller with the best intentions can cause a loss to themselves and the buyer if they don't take the necessary steps to provide tracking and mail properly by going inside the post office for proper shipping.

Missing mail without a tracking number is like a needle in a haystack.

It might be best to hide cards in a box so they cannot be felt. Anything to make it hard for thieves to feel them.

Finally...sending money to a friend for a trade or sale using PayPal gives you no protection if the trade is made in good faith BUT you do not receive your item for whatever reason.

What you can do to protect yourself...

When sending a payment you have an option to send to a friend which gives you NO protection...or you can click the dropdown and change to paying for an item or service which does give you protection....you must change and select this option to protect yourself.

From PayPal Send Money preview page...it will ask you "What's this payment for?"

"Sending to a friend"
"No fee to use bank or balance to send to friends and family in the U.S.", or

"Paying for an item or service"
"The seller pays a fee. Your eligible items are covered by PayPal Purchase Protection"

I wish I would have seen the PayPal option to change from sending money to a friend to paying for an item or service.

The "Send money to a friend" is the default...so you must change it to protect yourself and to have your item covered by PayPal Protection.

If a seller asks you to use the friend option you are giving up any hope of protection if you do not receive an item that you paid for.

This deserves it's OWN [stickied] thread for trading members to CYA traveldreamer

I went on line to CardPool and sold my $50 UBER GC. Then I checked their Facebook page and was very surprised at what I found there. Lots of complaints and the company has new owners. I hope there is no problem with this sale. Does anyone have an update on this company? Are they legitimate?

Be careful, I know someone that just got burned buying a physical gift card that was supposed to be sent in the mail. Paid with Venmo and is having trouble recovering the money from seller, or Venmo.
