How long before winning starts?

:love: I enjoy reading all the posts ... What is the usual time when a person can expect to start winning? I am encouraged when I read all the wins, and think that sooner of later it has to be me! I read once that your first win usually comes between 4 and 6 months ... I'm ready! Are there more wins in summer than winter ... more contests, etc.?
 
It really depends...Some people start winning in their first month or their first week of sweeping. It takes other people months.

I think it depends on luck, the type of sweepstakes you enter, and how many/how frequently you enter. For example, if you are entering lots of blog, local and lower entry sweepstakes, you will probably win a lot , even though the prizes will be smaller.

For me, my first win came about 2 months into entering sweepstakes.
 
Typically anywhere between 10 minutes and 6 months for a first win. The hobby is a game of statistics and patience.

There is an eb and flow to sweeps, there's always a lot going on, but there seems to be a lull after the first of the year into the spring, then things pick up again for summer, then some lull in the fall and a LOT of ramp up around Christmas and the end of the year.

Using instant win sweeps as a measuring stick, I on average enter ~100 a day, it was as low as 40-60 in the spring and as high as 200 last year around the holidays and currently sitting in the 75-80 range. But the fluxuations happen in all the groupings.
 
It also depends on the type of sweep you enter. Some sweeps attract very few entries due to the prize, therefor increasing your chances of winning.
 
I think we are all very different and winning is affected by several factors...but timing, which can be called "luck", is one of the biggest. You may have a big win in the first month or not ever! Usually, I'd say you'll win something- small or large in the first few months, generally (on average?). :) Enter lots of contests/sweeps for more chances at winning!
 
Many contests/sweeps don't send you an email notice of a win, they just show up. Sometimes these sweeps ended months before your prize is awarded. Hang in there, I've never heard of anyone who didn't win something.
 
Another thing you must remember when you first start sweeping is that you can't win until the sweeps is over.... then it is sometimes a couple of weeks to months before they notify the winner (or as jancarr51 noted the prize just shows up).

Although I don't know which sweeps you have been entering, you must consider a few things.

1) Probably a lot of what you have entered have not ended yet. You can't win until the sweeps is over.

2) Even if some of the sweeps have ended it somethings takes weeks and somethings a month or more until winner(s) are chosen.

3) After a sweeps has ended and the winner(s) chosen it is sometimes another few weeks or a month or more until the winner(s) are notified.

Just hang in there! You will win but you must give it time. And speaking of time, the IW sweeps are strictly a matter of timing. Sometimes winners are not notified, the prize just shows up at your door or in your mail box. There have been a few new sweepers that have thought checking off the sweeps check box next to the sweeps listing would enter them ... nope! You must click on the link and fill out the entry form. (I only mention this because I would hate for you to think your were entering something you weren't). But really, you WILL win! Honest!!! you will you will you will .... good luck!

I agree with Amy, there is no rhyme or reason to sweepstakes, no formula, no magic answer, you just have to enter as much as you can, and as many times as you can, thereby increasing your odds of winning. I have won my fare share of sweeps, and that's what I do, that aside, a little luck don't hurt. PS, it seems that I win more in the spring/summer, (at least bigger prizes) GL
 
I started sweeping in January, and said I would go till April 1st and see. Well, no luck. I "won" one candy coupon (which I get lots of candy free because I coupon regulary.) So I let off for awhile, and would occasionally do a few one enteries. Last week I won a grand prize trip to NY, and today I won a small gift basket, so there is definatly the possibility. Those were both won through "local" sweeps, but I wouldn't have even bothedr to enter if I hadn't started in January and read all these posts that people really do win. Good luck!
