Son will win if he accepts Marlboro sweepstakes $50k trip certificate arranged by Meetings & Incentives Worldwide, Inc. Can he use it to send the family on a trip without himself? He does not want to leave work for any amount of time. Any time in the next year.

Any advise would be helpful.

Just got notified on Friday 8/25. Meetings & Incentives Worldwide, Inc is closed until Monday. So asking you for now and will ask Meetings & Incentives Worldwide, Inc whatever questions you recommend.

If he accepts it has to be before 29 or 30 so notice arrives within a week of notification.
Thank you in advance

I checked the rules, and it says Prizes cannot be redeemed for cash, substituted, assigned or transferred....so you probably cant go without him....BUT he should contact Meetings & Incentives to get their take on it.
He will be responsible for paying taxes on $50,000.....thats a lot of money!!!

I turned down a trip to the ranch sometimes things don't work out, taxes would be high on a travel certificate sadly doesn't seem to include any cash

He shouldn't have entered knowing he would not accept the prize himself. The only prize was the grand prize, no lesser prizes. Glad they will pick an alternate if he forfeits.

Hopefully you can figure something out and go on the trip. A trip of that value would be a Bucket list type trip that you'll never forget. Congrats!

That's what I think reading these "wins" and people not being able to use them. I had hoped when I started entering daily after I retired 2 yrs ago, that the contest-entering community is a giving bunch, because I am! I think its good karma. I let others know of good contests to enter and help my friends with tips (they usually ask when I win something great! LOL). I don't enter anything I cannot or will not use-especially trips for families to enjoy (I am single) and trips in general because I don't want to leave my dog and I don't have extra finances to pay the taxes!! I don't want my luck thrown on winning a "corset" or "golf clubs"-both I'll NEVER use! LOL I make sure I read the rules carefully before entering! Its a shame something someone could really USE or WANT is being wasted.

They will try to get alternate winner to accept, p.s. I don't enter for the corset either or the clubs hubby already has nice ones

He shouldn't have entered knowing he would not accept the prize himself. I enter some contest with grand prizes that I would not use, but those contest also have lower prizes that do appeal to me. So, I don't see a problem with entering those types of contest. Also, if a person turns down a prize, for the most part, a new winner is selected.

not wasted since he is deciding if he should accept. not accepted goes to next person.

So I am wondering -- the question that isn't supposed to be asked -- Did your son enter the sweepstakes or did you enter in his name? (And yeah, add me to the list of those who don't enter sweepstakes that would require taxes I can't afford. If there isn't a cash option for the big prize, I don't enter.)

I was wondering that too. I don't want to win the bigger prize but the lesser prizes are more practical. Thank you.

This one only had the grand prize tho..I also enter ones with lesser prizes that I'd like to win.

Doubtful that the trip can be taken without the official winner present as the rules clearly state that there are no transfers or substitutions allowed.
Might be better off. I purposely didn't enter this sweeps as just paying the taxes didn't seem worth it since I'm sure all the costs involved are inflated and it has to be used on a single trip.

Odd for someone who won something this big refusing to take time their job for at least a year. Unless probation is a hurdle.

He should definitely ask the administrator regardless of what the rules state. I've been able to transfer a prize before (although it was smaller value - a concert that I was unable to get a sitter for). What a fun win!
