it seems like you don't win unless you pay money for this site.which i can't do because i am on disability but .i'll keep trying to win something just because its fun :)

I don't pay for this site. Don't give up sometimes it can take a while to get a win. I have won small things from song down loads to a trip to the All star races in NC they paid for everything. So don't give up it might just take some time, and I love the ones that just show up on the door step that you don't even know you have won. Keep trying and smiling. Good luck to you.

I don't pay either and I have won some nice things.....don't give up! I have to admit there are days when I ask myself why am I doing this.......then I will win something and I am all enthusiastic again.

Hi ambersmom35,

I sent you a pm to let you know that I moved your post here because it was in the Winners Circle which is only for reporting wins.

At the top of this forum (General Sweepstakes Talk) you will find a stickied thread, "NOT WINNING ANYTHING? Tips on why."

Also stickied near the top is another thread, " Winning - A Cheat Sheet."

I think that if you take your time and read through these and similar posts, you will find some tips you can apply to change or tweak your entry style. Mostly, read the rules, enter regularly, be patient and persistent.

"it seems like you don't win unless you pay money for this site"---

---As to your idea that you must be a paying member to win, that isn't the case at all because the list of sweeps is the same at SA and SA. The difference is that SP offers paying members additional sweeping tools, (not additional sweeps), such as the option to organize their My Sweeps into their own categories if they wish.

---Paying (8 cents per day) doesn't win sweeps for you, but it does let you organize sweeps in a way that suits you personally, and maybe that would make it easier for you to enter certain dailies more regularly, for example. For me, signing up for Sweeps Plus was not to give myself more wins. It was a way of showing support for all the work Ken had already been doing, at no charge to us.

Make sure you enter correctly. As you should know, but some brand new sweepers reading this may not know, you must click on the title of the sweeps to enter, which takes you to the sponsor's website with the actual entry form/details. You complete the entry form and submit it. SA only lists the sweeps. After you enter, you can use Add To My Sweeps to mark which sweeps you have entered and Sweeps Check to mark which sweeps listings you have seen, so when you check the list at SA you know what you have entered/not entered.

I hope you find a way to make the best use of your time, maybe select sweeps which offer more prizes, so that you will have a win and feel good soon. Best of luck!

We can't all be winners, all of the time, and yes, it IS frustrating to see everyone else winning when we can't seem to hit but don't give up...

I started sweeping online in Feb 2004 and JUST won a BIGGIE at the beginning of 2010 {$10,000 GP}!!!

So I not only post, I truly believe in:

The Sweeper's Credo:

Enter and forget it.

Always be happy for those who win - even when they win "your" prize - and be positive you will win.

Sweeping is a hobby that is all about timing. Especially for those elusive instants! IF you enter at the exact right moment, you will win.

If not? Sad to say you won't. But I assure you - it's nothing personal, and those who win a lot don't have any "secrets" - they are just consistent, persistent, and patient.

I really believe that if you go into it thinking you can't win, well, you'll MAKE yourself right so often you'll start believing it!!!

I truly do believe you have to have a positive attitude - don't get hung up on what others are doing - just focus on entering, then move on to something else - like posting so we can get to know you!!!

So hang in there - and enter, enter, enter - and you'll be posting a win before you know it!!! And remember - every day brings new opportunities to win!!!

arrtup3 dealt with the pay question, but I'd like to add something.

With so many new members posting how they won so fast, it can be upsetting to our long time members, but as I noted above, this is a hobby based on timing {for IW's} and what we are willing to put into it.

Expecting to win based on how long you've been entering, how many entries you have in, or whether or not you've decided to pay for Ken's hard work by upgrading to PLUS, IMHO, is the wrong way to look at it.

Your focus should be on those things, absolutely, but none of them guarantee you'll win - they just increase the odds that you will.

Try to shift your focus to what you can control - what, when, and how often you enter.

While it can happen that you'll win an unlimited entry with only 1 entry, it's not the norm. Same with daily sweeps - you can't enter just once then expect your one entry will beat out the thousands of entries made by those who enter every single day from beginning to end.

Ways I deal with the frustration of a dry spell:

1} I get outside of my own head by helping others. Either by voting, answering questions, or just getting a little silly. :crazytongue:

2} I avoid the winners circle. It's not that I'm not happy for other members, it's just that I don't need the constant reminder that I'm not one of them - for now. :crazytongue:

3} I hard charge on sweeps, going through all the categories and getting a sense of satisfaction/accomplishment when I get all caught up.

4} I take a break from the computer, since it's gone from being fun to being a chore.

If you keep pushing yourself to enter and things don't change, you will most likely burn out and quit, whereas if you make a decision to take a break for a day or 2, you are still in control.

I *usually* find I return after my mini "vacation" that I'm refreshed and can see things more clearly, so the little things don't get to me, and I enjoy instead of dreading entering my sweeps. :sunny:

I do not (yet) use the 'Plus' site - but I intend to. I'm in the process of moving to another state and splitting two households and being on my own again after 9-years, so it is alot of work. Until that happens early next year, I use this awesome free site and fantastic community we have and my own system of bookmarking other sweeps that may not be posted here.

You shouldn't give up. You may need to take a break, but shouldn't give up. I always enjoy reading Amy S.'s posts as she is a wiz on this site and offers great input.

I am a great example of almost quitting, but sticking with my nature of not doing so.

In August, I won one sweeps. It was a terrible month (I felt) and was frustrated by the amount of time I was putting in. But I always remain positive and decided to change my perspective and set a 'goal' to win 5 items in September. This is what my September has been so far:

9/1 – Book

9/5 – Book

9/5 – MP3

9/10 – X Factor Poster

9/11 – Dove Candy Bar

9/13 – MP3

9/14 - Book

9/15 – Bag of dog food

9/15 – DVD Set – Sons of Anarchy / Season 3

9/17 – Fat Boy Marinade and T-Shirt

9/17 – Live Nation 5.00 / Waste Management

9/18 – Live Nation 5.00 / Waste Management

9/18 – X Factor Poster

9/18 – Dog Food – Purina

9/19 – Live Nation 5.00 / Waste Management

9/20 – Dog Food Purina

9/22 – Dog Food Purina

9/23 – Dog Food Purina

9/23 – MP3

9/26 – 25.00 GC to GameStop

9/26 – X Factor Poster

9/27 – Autographed Book

9/28 - Dog Food Purina

I could have won more Purina or perhaps more books, etc., but I work FT in the day and a have FT home eBay business as well. I sweep 25-35 hours a week in-between and still had a great month, even though I didn't win the 'big' items. I was thrilled with my giftcard and the food for my dog. Next month, I'll set my goal to only 7 items and see what happens... if I don't make it, it's OK - this should be fun, even when it seems like work. And when it seems like work - I TAKE A BREAK now and take a day or two off, even if that is a big extreme sweeper no-no. In the end, I've done well.

Keep POSITIVE! WISH for that UPS or Fed/Ex to stop at your house and sooner than you know it, it will! Do the instant wins everyday and you WILL win. Follow the rules and enter everything you can, that you WANT and you'll win!

Good luck!

Cory
