Here is my situation: I won a trip to Las Vegas. My DH didn't want to go so my friend who lives 25 miles from me is going. She said she would drive us to airport. I haven't driven in years. (I know...bad girl!) We are to leave from Eastern Iowa Airport Wednesday morning. She plans to pick me up on the way. According to the weather forecast we are supposed to get some ice tonight and then snow tomorrow and up to 40 mph wind. What happens if we can't make the 60 mile trip on the icy roads? I suppose I just lose the entire trip? The rules (was from a July win from Las Vegas Convention and Tourist Center sweep) state the trip has to be taken by Dec 31 and also in the info they sent me no changes can be made after tickets issued. The lady at Orbitz was an angel to work with, but I hate to ask her what happens if we can't possibly get to the airport. If this storm wasn't supposed last for couple days, I would suggest we go and check into a motel near airport, but I don't want to sit there for two days and who knows maybe wouldn't get out then. Also there is the problems of Chicago as we fly there and change planes. This weather is heading that way. What would you suggest I do? My friend is wanting me to call and see if trip can be rescheduled, but I told her the rules said no changes. I haven't flown in 15 years so not up on what I should do. Do I call airlines if and when we see we can't make it to the flight? Do I call lady at Orbitz? Or, like I assume, do I just let it go and forget about it altogether? I would really appreciate your advice. I think I will probably just have to forfeit this trip if we can't possibly make it as it isn't worth risking our lives on icy drifted roads. They can get really bad here. Thanks!!!
