Having Trouble Getting 1099 MISC from Pik Nik

I won that Deadpool sweeps from Pik Nik last year. We took the trip in Sept. I am having trouble getting the 1099-MISC from them. Pik Nik has referred me to someone at Fox Searchlight (not sure why) and he ignores my emails. The person who arranged our trip (some firm in London) had also ignored my emails asking for an itemized list of what was spent. We want to do our taxes and I am greatly annoyed at this. I should have had it by Jan. 31. Has anyone else out there won a Pik Nik sweeps? Any advice?

FYI-when I try to put the value in on my taxes under "other income" it shows it as gambling winnings. I don't have any of the necessary info to complete the 1099 MISC.

You're not authorized to complete your own 1099 - it must be done by the issuing company.

Don't ask for a duplicate, 'cause then the IRS will get get the original plus the duplicate and think that the dollar amount is twice what it should be.

You could fill in the dollar amount on line 21 and attach an explanatory note with your taxes as to the reason the 1099 is missing.

Free advice, including mine, is worth what you pay for it. Seek professional help, talk to a good tax accountant.

We tried putting the value on line 21, but TurboTax automatically lists it as gambling winnings and we can't change "gambling winnings" to "sweepstakes prize."

This is from the rules: Sponsored by Pik-Nik Foods, USA, 433 Airport Blvd, Suite 404, Burlingame, CA 94010.

Just who IS responsible for the 1099 MISC? Pik Nik sponsored the sweeps but says they are not responsible. I am confused.

You might try another online format (Credit Karma) and see if you get a non-gambling result for line 21. I don't know if H & R Block and Jackson Hewitt are online also, you'll have to research.

The following are all advertising free tax return calculation:

Credit Karma - https://www.creditkarma.com/tax

H & R Block - https://www.hrblock.com/lp/fy17/shar...godhIUIyg#/en/

Jackson Hewitt - https://www.jacksonhewitt.com/file-taxes-online/

I got the above links from a Google search.

The Sponsor provides the funding for the sweepstakes and also the prize(s). The Promoter is paid a fee by the Sponsor to organize, run and promote the sweep.

So, I found out today that Pik Nik is the sponsor but 20th Century Fox is responsible for the 1099-misc. I was told their financial people "need more time." Geesh. You would think a company as big as Fox would know the rules. The IRS could fine them.

Good luck to anyone else who wins something from Pik Nik!!
