have free codes to give away?

Admin prefers only winning posts go in the Sweepstakes Winners Circle forum, since they link off the home page, so if you have free codes to give away, please post your thread in the FREEBIES forum thanks!

http://www.sweepsadvantage.com/forum/freebies/

ALSO, since SA has had non members come and take free codes without posting they did so in the past, we ask that you/members ask for pm requests instead of openly posting codes, thanks!

ie for; Freebies Freebies and/or Trade or Sell? Trade or Sell?

Then whenever someone posts a new thread, you will get a notice - via email or thru the forum!

arrtup3's excellent post;
I am sorry to read that some members feel it is too difficult to continue to give away the "up for grabs" codes. Thank you for letting us know how you feel.

The way I see it, the process isn't hard, but it is being tweaked for the purpose of protecting our members, so their codes and good intentions go to other members, not to bots and non-members.

Yes, it does require extra steps, the main one being that in your post you need to ask people to PM you for the code, then you have to PM them back with the code, and let us know when it is taken.

(We are moving these posts from the Winner's Circle, and to be consistent, from now on, we will move them to Freebies - but if you post in Trade or Sell, it is no big deal - we can leave the post there.)

Often, members complain that a code has been taken and no one posted that they used it. By asking you all to send the code via PM instead of posting it, we hope to eliminate this problem also.

Giveaways with free codes do tend to come in waves, as in yesterday, for example, when there were at least 4 separate posts in the Winner's Circle.

To address other feedback, I understand what dramaactress means by, "nobody sees any posts except for the 5 on the front page!" This is true for many people, but there are several ways to use the forum and you can see all kinds of posts that you would have missed if you only look at the handful that are featured in the Winner's Circle box on the home page.

Here are a couple of ways:

---On the home page, there is a list in the left column. Click on Forum, and you can see all the areas of the forum. You can explore any area you like, and if you go to the Winner's Circle, you will see many new threads every day.

---Again, on the home page, go to the left column, then Forum. Then look at the horizontal green bar on the top. Choose the second item, "What's New?" It takes you to the Activity Stream where you see all the new posts with the newest first. Click on any you like in order to see the full post. (You can right click or to stay on the Activity Stream and open a post (or posts) in a new tab.

I wish that...

... anyone who has given up on giving away free codes, or anyone who is thinking of giving up, will think again, and give it a try via the protective PM alternative. I say this because I always think of SA as a community. We have sweeping in common, that is why we are here in the first place, but beyond that, sharing and helping are what make SA a special place (or even reading about it when someone has appreciated the gift of a free code makes me feel glad to be a part of this site).

I hope that...

...people who have not yet explored the forum content, or explored different ways to access that content, will give it a try.

Thank you to everyone for providing feedback, and for your generosity in sharing codes and in trading.

I have been moving "up for grabs" posts from the Winner's Circle to Trade or Sell, and sending a PM to everyone who posted in each thread as I move it. Now that you (Amy) have made this post, I will move the threads to Freebies so we are consistent. (I used to think of Freebies as a place to post links for coupons and offers, not individual "up for grabs" posts, but it has not had much activity, so we can rejuvenate it with "up for grabs.")

My bad, I didn't even think to check there since they are giving them away! :p

I also thought we already did this {thread} before?

I gave up on pm'ing since I never once got a reply/acknowledgment & just posted to their thread in the hopes they would actually see it, lol!!!

As long as we are consistent, Freebies can be the new home for "up for grabs" posts that we move from the Winner's Circle. (If members post them in Trade or Sell, that is okay, I will leave them there.)

Yes, I think we have done this informational post before but you said it well again, thank you!:

Now I am confused as back a few months ago when I posted something up for grabs in the freebie section I rec'd the following scolding from the moderator....So now I just delete codes I don't want rather than taking a chance of being openly reprimanded by a mod....I don't always have the time to play the pm'ing game..........

Thanx for that tid-bit of info.....Just following the lead of others that have openly posted codes up for grabs is all.....Will have others pm for codes in the future........

I don't find it "difficult" just "time consuming" to go back and forth from my email where the code is to back and forth pm'ing and then having to answer the pm's and let those who inquire that the code has already been given away....as not everyone may see the post that the code is gone and just send pm's anyway....My time... as everyone else's is limited.

My apologies.....

No need to apologize, it is time consuming. That's why we try to help by adding *Taken* to the thread title, as soon as we see a code has been taken, but as you noted, either people don't see that, or keep PMing you in the interim, so it is not a perfect system.
