Yep, I just posted about it in another thread and myself and others have posted on their FB wall. I refuse to give my SS# for a prize of this value. I believe it's only required for over $600 (although I'm not 100 percent sure on that). Definitely more then $500 as I had a $500 win in Dec. and didn't get one for it.
BTW, myself and others have also replied to the email letting them know they can keep the prize if this is what they want from us.

I think most people do not think that these sweepstakes & giveaways are real as we rarely hear who the winners are other than a random name. It would be nice if you could include a quote from the winners! More people might give it a try!!
My guess is they knew this would make the majority of the winners turn down the prize and therefore save themselves a bundle.

Actually, they are obligated by federal law to report miscellaneous income of $600 and up and send you a 1099. However, you, yourself, are legally supposed to include ANY income whatsoever in your miscellaneous income on your 1040 or whatever form you use.

Not sure what kind of quote you are looking for as far as this situation. I was one of the winners of this game and none of us who won knew that we'd be asked to provide our SS# on a 1099 form for something valued at only $50. This was an instant win game that I think is now over anyway, but even if it's still running I don't think you'd want to give it a try. However, as far as whether or not these giveaways & sweepstakes are real, all those listed here are indeed very real and I've won many over the years.

I was happy when I got this the other day. Many of us sent emails and posted on their FB wall and I guess they realized they were mistaken about needing this for such a small win. Very happy to know that I will be getting my jacket as I really did like it.
