Grand Prize Winner in the "Bally Sweepstakes"

Just receive a email telling me that I am the Grand prize winner of a women's leather two-toned bowling-style
bag in natural canvas with an approximate retail value of $2,179.00.

That's a lot of tax to pay for the bag. Are you going to try to get the 1099 value lowered?

In regards to 1bigwinner2222 comment, taxes are different for everyone and their own situation and other income. I won thousands of dollars of prizes last year and still ended up getting a refund. I also do not have any dependents to claim except for myself and husband. Hopefully, you won't have to pay anything for your great win either.

Congrats! And on the tax implications, check to see if you can find a lower price advertised on the internet. Print out the listing and keep it for your records. You can adjust a 1099 to show a true retail value.
