I just won a grand prize in the SPEED Dream Ride sweepstakes. Quote from the rules:

Each Grand Prize Winner (each a "Grand Prize Winner") will receive a trip for two (2) to Monterey, California to attend the Dream Ride Event in and around Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Trip includes round-trip coach class air transportation for Grand Prize Winner and a guest (the "Guest") from the major commercial airport nearest the Grand Prize Winner's primary residence to Monterey, California; double occupancy standard hotel accommodations for four (4) nights; local ground transfers between airport, hotel and all formal Event activities; select meals as determined by Sponsor including daily breakfasts, on-track lunches and evening dinners including a welcome reception with SPEED celebrities and special guests; two (2) days of on-track ride-along and/or driving experiences for Grand Prize Winner and Guest at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca (SPEED to determine final driving experience vehicles and drivers, which are subject to change) and an exotic car driving event for Grand Prize Winner and Guest in the vicinity of Monterey, California

MRSP: $14,000. I am super excited to go there :headbang:

Holy cow!!!! You HIT THE JACKPOT. I have been trying to score a win like this for a long time! Very jealous right now! Congratz :)

WHO CARE'S ABOUT THE TAXES?? If there are taxes if still cheaper than paying for the trip:error:

Congrats on your super win!!

Congrats on your Huge Win! I am sure you will have fun. But you should be clear on the taxes. I work for a CPA and you can have a tax projection done to see what it will cost you. I agree, trip of a lifetime is worth it, but many factors are involved, this will be added to your income for the year. If they pay a portion of it that would be a ++.

P.S. I won a large trip as well and got a 1099 for $8,000, please feel free to send me a message if you have questions. Would be happy to give you my take on it.
