i received a fed ex letter yesterday stating that i was a potential grand prize winner of a 4 night trip to ireland. there are forms for myself and a guest to fill out asking for employer and social security number along with other identifying info. is this the norm for a win and should i fill this out and return in the provided fed ex return mailer?
thanks for your help.

I've never won anything of the sort so I don't exactly know the legitimacy of the paperwork. Just wanted to ask you if you love Geroge's beer as much as I do

Sounds legit to me! How exciting ! Your SS# is a must for almost all wins with a prize over $600. They want to know your employer to make sure you or your family are not affiliated with the sponsors. Other info would be phone numbers / address / age verification are all normal. Yes send it back in the provided envelope. Congrats on the great win, wish I was going!

SS is always needed and so is employer. Since it's a liquor sweep, both will have to be over 21 to go on the contest (legal age of drinking age).

The employer thing is so that they don't find out later you or someone in your family works for them or an associate.

FILL IT OUT! FILL IT OUT!

Congratualtions on a great win. I hope you have a great time! :sunny:

Yes that is a legit letter!! Congratulations!! I entered that dang thing every day! They ask for SS# because well, they have to send you a 1099 for next year since the prize is over $600, and they ask you for your employer to make sure you are not associated with any of the marketing agencies or the brewery or distributors.

Enjoy your trip!!!

Make sure you keep a record of the actual costs of all expenses included in the trip--exact flight and seats, exact hotel room, etc. The ARV's are almost never the actual amount. They're just over-inflated approximations, and you don't want to pay taxes on more than the trip really cost.

Congratulations and enjoy!

ENJOY ENJOY ENJOY!
