Gamestop

I received a voicemail on Friday from a gentleman who identified himself as Matthew from Gamestop and said it was regarding a sweepstakes I'd entered by filling out a feedback form. I can't find the sweeps and am going nuts trying to figure out what i might be. The most recent ending sweeps I can find was for a $500 giftcard. That would buy lot's of games for my boyfriend's birthday! We already have an xbox and wii so i'd probably get a ps3 and some games! Anyways I think it's a real win but i just wanted to see if anyopne else had received a similar call in which case it's likely just a sales call. BUt i have entered a number of their sweeps over the years and never received a call so I'm getting pretty excited. I left a message but I'll try and call Monday at work too!

I enter all the time and it is always for a console or gift card, either would be GREAT. Glad to know someone won from them.

CONGRATS

The sweeps that ended most recently for Gamestop are a $500 giftcard, a trip to vegas...or the lesser prize in that sweeps was a cd. I'm hoping for the giftcard. We'd have so much fun with that. They have good quality used games too so it would probably go pretty far!

Do you know if you need to buy a game with the PS3 or are there things you can do with it that do not require a game.

Thanks

The good: Swanky design with quiet operation; all games in high-definition; PSP-like, easy-to-use interface; plays Profile 2.0 high-definition Blu-ray movies in addition to upscaling standard DVDs; built-in Wi-Fi; 80GB hard drive; HDMI output with 1080p support; no external power supply; free online gaming service.

The bad: Lacks full backward support for PS2 games; only comes with two USB ports; no infrared port means non-Bluetooth universal remotes aren't compatible; no flash card or memory reader; glossy black finish is a fingerprint magnet; online gaming, media, and commerce options not nearly as developed as Xbox Live.

The bottom line: Even though PS2 backward compatibility has been dropped from this version, the 80GB PS3 is still a superb Blu-ray player and high-definition game console.
